I will try to keep this short and sweet. The Cards had the best record in the majors this year. The Cards won (going away) the division where the 3 best teams in the National league played. The Cards have outstanding speed, power, and defense. The Bosox have below average speed, outstanding power, and an average defense. As for the managing matchups I haven't watched enough of both managers to draw a fair conclusion but as you pointed out Larussa has more playoff experience. The Cards have a huge emotional edge as the Bosox are riding sky high after that comeback against their bitter rivals and are due for a huge letdown. The Bosoxs have the homefield edge but most experts would agree that homefield means less in baseball than any other sport. The Bosox also have had an extra day to celebrate, relax, and recover. The Bosox have a starting pitching edge but the Cards have the better pen. I think the series price should be flip flopped.

I thought the series price opened rather high, but it also get bet lower than I thought. A lot of talking heads, like Wil's article, say the same things. The ability to manufacture runs, speed on base paths and that defense are all things that get little press, but win games. Also big edge to LaRussa, he can manage in game like few others. Should be enough to overcome Red Sox homefield. My numbers were closer to pick, but you could easily build a case for Cards being favored. Good point on best team in best division, I use that quite often. May all of your bets cash Hitman.:heh:

Game not over, but a little difference pitching to an AL line up with tired arms. Cardinals are in real trouble trailing by 5, with Schilling and Pedro next.

Francona is an idiot...but I owe him an apology because he is in the World Series and I thought he would've managed them right out of the playoffs by now.

I still think he has time to be himself...but we'll see. I did play the Cards small WS (I also had played the Yanks at +170...leave it to Francona to screw that up for me). I'm just glad he's not in Philadelphia (even with his success this year).

Thank you Red Sox. In this thread I said you would finish the season with an 8 game winning streak and you did, making me thousands, thanks again. Lost a little tonite on the over, but man o man, great money maker for me. Red Sox you showed the Yankees how its supposed to be done when you are up 3-0. KUDOS to the RED SOX ORGANIZATION!!!

Bargain price on the superior pitching, offense and home team advantage. The Red Sox just dominated the Cardinals in every aspect including managing and errors:manwh: The Cards regular season record kept this price way down, but meant very little in the series.

Boston Red Sox :biggrinin
