Not sure Kid, I know they did some "pruning" of older posts to shrink the database, but I'm not sure that's what you are talking about.
As far as the # of posts per page-that's a new one....maybe a setting went back to the default, or maybe it's a function of how many people have avatars (more making the page longer & causing it to cut the page off earlier).

Search results were lowered based on a test that we are doing DB wise.
The previous search settings were resulting on a 'SLOW SELECT' on mysql which was affecting the performance of the forum. Sadly enough making a big search results on a full scan of the post table which is very negative for the forum performance mostly during peak times.
Lots of users use the search feature, even on peak times and this was a measure to lower the overhead & the high latency times on the DB.
About the new splitting page setting, is related to the same situation, performance, so far we are interested in improving the performance of the site on peak times as we have achieved on the last few days, these and other small tweaks help us pin-point performance issues better.
With the new version 3.5.0 we might go back to the old settings, this because we will disable the avatar views to GUEST users, only registered users will be able to see avatars, that in itself will reduce a lot of load overhead.
