WNBA 2023 Season Long Thread

Aces to win the title (-165), 3*

This team is a wagon. They won it last year and added Candace Parker. The Liberty are the second best team in the league and Vegas just ran away from them last night. The Sun match up well with Vegas as they split their first two meetings this year. Now that CT has lost Jones, they are out of the running to win a title. I can always hedge off this in the final if I feel like that is the right thing to do.

That Seattle loss last night was brutal. Definitely the worst WNBA beat of the year for me. They had a chance to get a stop in OT and gave up a bucket with 11 seconds left to tie the game. Then, their best player Jewel Loyd who was excellent last night, looses the ball out of bounds. Minnesota goes down and scores with 1 second left to win by 2.

I want to bet Atlanta, but I’m still marinating on that one.

Griner to win MVP (+400), 1*

I bet Griner at +600 last night on FanDuel, but I didn’t even think to post it. It’s +400 now which is the number I will use. It just seems like if Team Stewart wins or keeps it close and Griner plays well, it is going to her. I assume it is a fan vote, although I don’t know that for sure. I can see the voters wanting it to go to Griner so she can have a nice moment.

While the Mercury are not very good overall, I think they are the type of team to exploit the Sun inside. Connecticut has been able to work around losing their starting center for the season. Griner is one of the few true centers in the league who have the height and skill to make things difficult on the Sun. I think CT pulls this game out, but the Mercury do enough to keep it inside the number. GL

Disgusting push on yesterday’s under. So many meaningless points at the end of the game. We went into the fourth quarter needing 47 or less to win the bet, which is a great place to be. I’m glad I didn’t lose outright, but that was a tough pill to swallow. Good luck today.
