New Mexico, or Las Vegas........but if I hit the lottery for $200 million, than buy a small island & bet football from my island & watch the games from my OLED & satellite dish.

But reality, in the suburbs of Vegas or New Meixco........

I will most likely split time between my home in Portland and the Peurto Valarta area.

Anyone that lists Houston is out of their F'ing mind. Hot, Humid, crime, pollution, I could go on etc,!!

Agreed, that is on my BOTTOM 5 of cities I've visited. Hated it.

What's funny is his second choice would also be in my top 5 - Charleston SC

Lived in Nebraska my whole life, no better place to raise a family.

I will have a 2nd house somewhere because as much as I love Nebraska, the winters can be brutal. I always thought a 2nd home in Phoenix but who knows by the time I retire.

But I will also travel the world. Once I got a taste of overseas travel I can't get enough of it.

Bro I love the cold, maybe you want your 2nd home in a place with a nearby coast, hasve the best of both worlds.

Galena, IL.

Besides being a small town, with little crime. I'm surprised you would pick it. Not gonna knock it, because I've never been there.

But I would imagine the winters aren't much fun, and it gets somewhat humid in the summer?

Anywhere in the Midwest the winters aren't fun, and yes it gets humid once in a while, today was one.
I was born and raised here, couldn't wait to leave when I was 20, couldn't wait to get back 4 years later.

Fair enough.

Connecticut

it's where my friends and family will be, and I'll continue to supplement my income during tax season. Part time, retain select clients

plus Ollie looks like he's going to able to maintain UConn hoops, and I live for that stuff

but if I were to move, someplace cheaper to live and warm, somewhere between SC and TX. Maybe Aruba

It all depends on what you looking for in a location. California is one of the worst places to retire in my opinion.

Love the San Diego area in general. And you can't beat the weather year round.

But for the following reasons, I doubt I will want to retire there in 20 years (My target age):

1. Cost of living.
2. Long term concerns over the water issue.
3. Long term concerns over homeless and illegal immigrant issues.

Portland is too weird. Bad traffic. Over due for a massive earthquake. Hate driving across the bridge over into Portland. PNW is beautiful. Everything is green outside. Never will have a drought or water shortage. Lots of lakes, big river, clean coast, clean air, and outdoorsmen's haven. I personally love the Spokane area, but wife not a fan. FML
