NO doubt WILLIE MAYS

He lost home runs playing at both Candlestick, the La Coliseum for a couple years (on road trips to LA) and of course for first seven years at the Polo Grounds in NYC.

The LA Coliseum was another homemade makeshift ballpak, they had this enormously high net in left field because the fence was very close...I'll look for a picture, pretty hilarious when you think back and compare a park like that to todays parks.

I shot craps with Willie one New Years Day at Harrahs Lake Tahoe.

Was watching the Broncos/Raiders AFC Championship(Raiders were robbed on a fumble no call) game and my girlfriend came in and got me to see Willie.

He was very animated and tossed around those black chips like they were candy.

Clemente was...

the best!

Could hit home runs when he felt like it. Stealing % was strong, but only stole bases when it mattered. Arm was exceptional, more accurate than either. Range far greater than Aaron. Batting average obviously strong.

Best bottom line: The World Series. Singlehandedly beat Baltimore's 4 20 game winners with homeruns, timely hitting, fielding, etc. Did Mays or Aaron excel like that at the biggest of moments?

Clemente appeared in 14 world series games. He hit safety in each and every one of those games, with a variety of game and series critical hits.

I'm probably one of the few people here who got to see Hank play live.

1974, his last year with the Braves. My dad and I took a bus to the old Jarry Park in Montreal to see them play the Expos. The first MBL game I ever went to.
I don't remember much about the actual game...

I became a Giants fan at a very young age because of Willie Mays. He was always my favorite player and will always be the GOAT in my eyes.

I say Mays play in person the first time in 1971 against the Phillies in Philadelphia. I was 15 and Mays hit a home run in that game. That night in the 2nd game of a double header, Rick Wise hit 2 home runs for the Phillies. Earlier that year Wise had hit 2 home runs in a game while pitching a no hitter. Also went to the game the next day and saw Juan Marichal pitch. That was an awesome weekend. Went with 3 friends(one was 15 like me and the other 2 were 18). I was shocked my Mom let me go but times were different back then. I lived in RI at the time.

In 1971 I was 20 years old....my father was a New York Giant fan and he was crushed when they moved to SF....when I was a kid I used to take the train from Atlantic City to Philly and catch a game at Connie Mack....Mays hit many a HR over the Alpo sign in left field....Willy McCovey and Dick Allen were the only players to hit a HR over the scoreboard in right field....many fond memories of Connie Mack on 22nd and Lehiegh....

The last game at Connie Mack was in 1970. The games I saw in 1971 were at the newly built Veteran Stadium which opened that year. Those were the good old days.

My old man drove us to Houston for Astros games once a year from 1970 to about 1975 and I saw Aaron, but not Mays. Also vividly recall watching via TV Hank yak #715.
