MGM sportsbooks director of trading Jeff Stoneback
“We need Fury in this fight. We opened at pick and we’re at Wilder -135 right now. It’s 3/2 money on Wilder, and the ticket count is about 30% more on Wilder.”
As mentioned in this thread, there are several low- to mid-five-figure bets on Wilder, and a win by the American would be a mid-six-figure loss for the book. That’s despite a $50,000 bet on Fury that landed Friday night, and a $40,000 play on the Brit over Super Bowl weekend.
Also mentioned earlier, the largest wager at MGM, $100,000 on the bout going less than 11 full rounds.
“That would be a six-figure loser for us if that happened,” Stoneback said. “But we have gotten some sharp money back on the other side. We were at +130 on that this morning, and now we’re at +115.”
Stoneback also noted bettors hitting props of Wilder by knockout at any point, which opened +140 and tightened to +120, and leaning toward an early Wilder KO.
“If Wilder knocks out Fury in the first or second round, then that would add to our woes,” he said. “We’ve got large liability in Round 2. If we can get through the first two rounds, we’re OK on the knockout props.”
