bwhahahhaa

honestly a MAC and me makes no sense my friend :D

but I could probably walk u through it if u gave me make/model of comp and what web broswer u use.. a picture of back of ur laptop/comp so I can see the plugins.. and then make/model of tv and pic too (but the pics I can find online obviously if u give me exact info)

then I can come up with a way for u to be able.. also the distance of ur tv from ur laptop/comp (for cord size reasons and/or recommendations on certain methods)

Its even easier with a mac. Just buy a 99 dollar APPLE TV. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipod/family/apple_tv?afid=p219%7CGOUS&cid=AOS-US-KWG
If you have one you can mirror your IPHONE, IPAD, or MBP wirelessly.
Thats what I do.

Better then HDMI.
Get it.

Had a Best Buy gift card I was probably never going to use so I actually went and picked up an Apple TV a few weeks ago.

The only thing that pisses me off is the computer has to be on that your stream from, and my comp is in the same room as my big screen.

I changed my screen saver to all black so it helped a lot, but before that the computer screen would light up the whole room if it was dark.

hmmm.. this makes me definitely wonder a bit..
unfortunately it would be the same problem with streaming through hdmi but i believe there is a way to turn off screen by itself even on a laptop.

u could choose option to only show screen 2 (if u are treating it like a split screen through hdmi) though

maybe cover ur screen with a piece of paper (construction black? heh)

Sounds like some of you guys need to upgrade some of your software.

First: download "Stream Transport". This allows you to download any TV show, movie or content that you can stream on your computer. It copies it in a FLV file though as the copyrights haven't been stripped yet.

Second: Download HandBrake. This software strips the copyright of the file and makes sure the file contains all of the right codecs and turns it into an MP4 file. You can then save it on a flash drive or portable hard drive and plug it into your USB on your Blu Ray player or PS3.

Third: Get "Ultra Video Joiner" this software allows you to edit and join files and also makes sure your file will be compatible to view thru your TV similar to handbrake.

Both of the above softwares are also handy if you buy a digital download and want to watch it on your TV without streaming. For instance if you buy a movie on Amazon Prime and don't want to stream it to your TV and want to be able to take the movie on the go with you these softwares will crack the codecs and allow you to convert the file.

I go months without watching a movie on Netflix. It wouldn't be worth it to me. Others use it every week. I'm to busy watching Live Sports.

I have Amazon Prime, but mostly for the free shipping... I do use the streaming and Kindle Lending Library sometimes, as I have a media streamer connected to my HDTV and a Kindle Fire HD.

NFLIX over AMZN any day. I believe DTV has an amazon app built in so you don't even need to hook up the lap top anymore.

what do you mean Direct TV has an Amazon app built in? Where is it on the MENU page someplace???

[h=1]Here's how you can access the 'secret' categories on Netflix[/h]

By Matt Tate

[h=3]It's the enemy of productivity, but we're sure how we ever got by without the bottomless treasure trove of entertainment that is Netflix.[/h]We're big fans of the way the service tries to curate your binge by using its algorithm to recommend shows and movies based on what you've watched in the past. Netflix gets you, man.

What your homepage will also do is display a load of categories: sitcoms, British TV, dramas, to name a few. When you click into these some will have a box for sub-genres within that category. That allows you to really hone in on exactly what you're after.
Screen-Shot-2016-08-03-at-18.08.00-1024x538.png

But for some reason not every category has this feature, so you're left with an enormous library of content but no way of whittling it down. It's not going to ruin your night or anything, but it can be a pain.

Luckily, some internet wizard has come up with a (at least temporary) solution. As highlighted by Business Insider, the site Netflixcodes.info's 'secret categories' will guide you through to every title listed under a specific sub-genre. It's a pretty rudimentary interface, but works like a dream. We doubt Netflix would be too chuffed to learn that someone is treading on their toes, but at the time of writing the site is fully operational.

So if you're feeling a Cult Sci-Fi flick on a Friday night, just click on the category and it will redirect you to Netflix's library of those films. Nifty.

Crave even more organisation? Check out Netflixcodes.me, which does pretty much the same thing, except every sub-genre category is listed alphabetically, rather than being split off into groups.

Procrastination has never been so efficient.

Cancelled Amazon Prime after a couple years. Never bought much on there. Now when I do order something it tries to get me to sign up for Prime by saying it'll come in like 2 days and if I don't it'll be like 5 days. I can wait a couple extra days...but guess what, they typically come in 2 days anyway! The movie selection is not enough to keep me. Have NF also, but would cancel it no problem if Wifey wanted to (she doesn't) plus my kids use my account. Both services are VERY liberal and like most media try to jam that down your throat.
