the worst I've ever seen was Texas Tech vs. SMU Leach was trying to score like his life depended on it up 30+...then when they interviewed him after the game he was soooo pissed, his team had just won by 30+ and he says I can't believe they didn't give us the TD at the end....unreal...although I remember June Jones did something very similar within the last 5 or 6 years in a Hawaii game that was televised but I don't remember the exact details, I just remember people talking on the forums how they couldn't believe June Jones did that and that he was clearly trying to cover the spread....so I guess June didn't mind that Leach was going after it the way he did.

This reminds me of the Clemson/Georgia Tech game when George O'Leary was the Tech coach. Tech just stopped Clemson on downs with a field goal lead and just about a minute left to play. (Spread was Gt-4.5) Clemson had no timeouts. Instead of taking the proverbial knee, Tech kept running off tackle and the RB was stopped millimeters from the goal line on the final play. Lost all respect for George O'Leary.

Dan Hawkins pulled this kind of shit all the time at Boise. Leads well in hand and was always going for a garbage TD late.

An important thing that gets overlooked is the risk of a needless injury that could occur.

Stanford's BCS title hopes are dim, to say the least.

As for Carroll, Meyer, or any other top tier team that runs it up or tries to cover, I say go for it. Until there is a playoff system, every point, every perception each point makes, counts. They say scores don't factor in, and maybe they don't in the stupid computers.... but they do in the minds of the coaches that don't even watch the games, or the AP writers for that matter. There are millions of dollars and sholies at stake for these schools, so I have no problem with those schools running it up if they can.
