Also, people seem to bash when one bets on a team riding a long losing streak. Don't understand that either...last time I checked, losing streaks don't continue forever.

Because it doesn't work betting against a losing streak. Why back a team that's playing poorly when there's other games out there? The due theory loses money.

I'm sure most of the people that hit with the Reds today are people who had them in other games during this streak, which means they either broke even or lost money betting them this week.

Ride the wave, don't swim against it.

Me too...would've loved to been out there with you guys. Lucky bastards.

Still gotta meet up for lunch. Let me know when you're back in NC and maybe we can meet halfway or some gay shit like that.

Enjoy the game tonight.

Even the worst teams in MLB will still win over 60 times this season...and oftentimes they'll be big dogs in those wins.

So if one picks and chooses when to bet on poor teams like the Royals, Reds, Nats, etc., why are people so confused? Obviously that person feels there's value, thinks that team's gonna get get one of those 60+ wins and enjoy a nice payday.

All you say is true. But is it bashing to ask that question?although it worked out, with over 60 plays on the board Why would you take a team that for now is probably the worst team in baseball, with a starter who is 1-6,knowing that your bullpen (which completely sucks to begin with ) and is spent.
at even money (no real value) It was a question ,not a threat, not an insult, not a bash

I'm not advising to bet blindly against a losing streak...but if, for one game, someone likes a team to win that particular game, he shouldn't be bashed for making the play, even if they're on a long losing streak.

And you might be right about people on the Reds today being on them all week...but I'm sure that's not the case for EVERY person who bet on the Reds today.

I just don't think one should be bashed for making a play. People can agree to disagree on the reasoning behind it, but at the end of the day, it's that person's $, and his opinion. And losing streaks don't last forever, so to call someone stupid for betting on a team on a losing streak is foolish, IMO.

good call...

I'm also curious about people who sign the end of their posts & posters who bold every single word/post.

I beleive all three posting stereotypes should have a round table discussion on tv...so i can feel better about my personal life.

how about adding people like you that sit on the sidelines ,giving a shit, when the don't post any plays, because they either don't want to help the other bettors,or they don't know shit about the topic, or their too busy wasting their life watching married with children reruns, grow some balls and post a play bundy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if any caps are in my post , they are not from me.hope this makes up for all the times i used all caps.too lazy to keep shifting!!!!!!!!!!

ps bundy..learn to spell...i before e except after c and yes there is exceptions..believe is not one of them:bigfinger

well put drewgasm!!!!

Nobody should ever bash anyone for their picks in here. It's hard work getting in here and posting your plays everyday and keeping a record. But trust me on one thing, I've been betting baseball for about 20 years and you never go near a team on a losing streak. I don't care if Cy Young, in his prime, is pitching for the team on the losing streak and the other team has a bad case of the clap from the night before. Avoid these situation like the plague and you'll be better off.

Skins My Man Like Your Style & Agree

re. bashing a guy for posting a play. It is after all his $$. But what I disagree w/is, peoples` use of the word "value", especially when it comes to MLB. I think it`s used too loosly, i.e. a shit tm going against an "Ace". Perfect example was tonite a lot of $$ on Nat`s +150, facing one of the most dominant SP in the NL. I don`t care if it was +300 to me there`s no value there. I may be goofy but that`s just the way I see it. You have to consider also that Wash. is 1 of the worst hitting tms in MLB. So I guess what I`m saying is, cap the gm 1st then look @ the price. A prime example was a few days ago with LAA +160 against NYY and Escobar on the hill w/his sub 3 ERA. It was a gift and I talked about it that day. BOL to you my friend and keep posting please. Only 90+ days till the REAL sport starts.

silver, I agree...I hate words thrown around like "value" and "sharp/square."

A play isn't a sharp play unless it wins. A sharp player is a player who wins. In my mind, at least.

And a losing play is a losing play. How is there value in a losing play? You took a shot because you thought it'd win, but if it didn't, how is it still value? It lost. You lost $.

Oh well. Reasonable minds can differ, I suppose.

The shapr square thing I cant stand. I hate when people say your play is a square one because the public is on it or some stupid ass shit like that. But as far as value some people may throw it around and not realy know what it means. But in my understanding the value plays are playing a team you think may not win but think has a much higher chance of winning than the odds might say. In the long run if you should make considering your feelings on the chances of a certain team winning are correct

either last year or the year before I tried to call chop on throwing the fucking word "value" all over the place. I had a similar argument to skins, how much freaking value can their be on bets that lose? Not surprisingly, chop gave me some explanation about how he didn't want to come off arrogant but it's something he can understand but just can't explain it to me very well. Fuck that, value is finding a team that wins the game at a good price, at least in one sense of the word.

oh btw, I completely agree with the logic behind the original intention of this thread. In my mind it just occurs as a byproduct of inexperience.
