he was afraid that if he failed to get a big gain on first down miami would get the ball back with their 3 timeouts and plenty of time. so he let the clock run down to get to 1:10 and when failing on his plan to get the big gain on first down decided to just run out the half since they were getting the ball in the 2nd. actually a brilliant move as it ensured no possibility of miami scoring again in the 1st half.

Miami had two timeouts so they could’ve only stopped it twice...but we all know Miami isn’t stopping the clock on a first down run there by New England. Would never happen. It’s the Miami Dolphins and you’re at home and if you don’t think you can drive into FG position and score with the ball at your own 30 then you need to retire.
