Mohammad should have caught that pass on carolinas first drive second half.That was a fumble as well.Going for two was not the smartest play with the time left but carolina had plenty of chances to win.Its easy to say they should have ran more time off the clock but Ne was not ready for tht play nor any play they rushed up to the line.Kasay screwed up with tht kick talk about blowin out your nut sack holy cow ball at 40 thts not a good place to start .All in all one hell of 1st half finish where talking the last 4min of 2nd quarter or else this game would have sucked

no need to read the whole rule book, the pertinent section is cited:

2. Immediately prior to the start of the second half, the captains of both teams must inform the officials of their respective choices. The loser of the original coin toss gets first choice.

in this example carolina win the toss, decides to kickoff to start game on defense (again will never happen, just for argument sakes). at the start of the second half the ref goes to the captains of the coin toss losers - new england - and asks what they would like to do. their choice is to either chose field or receive/kick. they elect to receive, the panthers would kick off again.

only in extreme cases - ie severe weather bias - would you see an nfl team win the toss and not elect to get the ball.

man from troy dan morgan second star of the game? he made many meaningless tackles but what about mike vrabel who made impact plays. two sacks forced fumble several tackles touchdown catch. need i go on? how can you also overlook the career day by deion branch? the reason morgan looked so good is because peppers spent the game on his back getting steamrolled by daniel graham a tight end no less. delhomme played great but he did complete less than 50% of his passes and at times was very inaccurate but he certainly carrys himself like a winner.
