Why are so many of Washington DC's Homeless Obese???

So there's one fat lady I used to see every day, they'd call her the Pigeon lady because she'd very frequently be feeding bread to the birds.

What else is she doing in the morning, she's very frequently drinking a 4 fucking dollar starbucks coffee and reading or doing a crossword puzzle...

4 fucking dollar starbucks coffee.... huh? Do you have work to go to or something, do you need to be awake, alert.... are you trying to add to that blubber?

I don't drink the 4 fucking dollar starbucks, yet almost every day you see the pigeon lady drinking away what could be a whole day's worth of food for some odd reason.

i kind of have the same suspicions regarding the homeless that c-gold has.

my sister told me the other day she saw a homeless man on the road, bought him 20 dollars worth of food, like water, basics you know, and went back and gave it to him.

i told her how do you know that guy wasnt just hustling for money. i seen it in minneapolis before. people begging for change dressing down, then driving away in SLK's.

so on one hand im like what are you doing sis, then on the other hand im like good job. so im kind of in the middle on it.

Is your issue with the fact that people call them starving, when the ones you see don't appear to be starving? I mean, you use the term "starving poor" 8 times, but I couldn't find a thread prior to this one where anyone else uses that term.

So is it just the classification thats bugging you - or specifically the folks you drive by that piss you off?

Would it help if they just called them poor? Who exactly are these people anyway? Are they forum posters or specific talking head liberals in the news? Any actual names/handles of these folks?

YES, One of my issues is when people left on the political spectrum or the news media call them " the starving poor".

I was recently talking to an immigrant from India and he had the wisdom to say that " you can't do wrong in America, a country where the poorest people are the fattest people".

but YES the homeless sponges that don't work and leetch off of society sicken me, that too.

There are a lot of people that BEG, that I do not believe are homeless. Every day between about 11:30 and 2:00 PM there is a whole group of people begging for money in front of the Verizon center ( where the Capitals/Wizards play).

There is a Mcdonalds/Chipolte and other restaurants there and I've even seen them enter the restaurants and beg for money (which pisses me and other customers off).

but there you see the low class but probably not homeless slick talking black guys that aggressively try and hustle for money. Most of the REAL homeless people ask for money, and if somebody says "no" they either say nothing or "thank you", but a lot of the poor (but not homeless) types really try and Hustle harshy and in packs. These guys aren't sitting on the ground begging, they come in around lunch time, stand up and really try and sell themselves.

and when they get ignored or a "no", they can get aggressive or angry to people. These guys pan handle much more aggresive than the other real homeless types.



GTC, my guess is that in your case, your sister gave money to the poor but not homeless types that would rather BEG for money than work for it.

OK, I live/work in the city, ride public transportation, work in a diverse work enviornment, am friendly, engage in conversation, but I couldn't possibly be talking to an Indian Immigrant?

So who was he then, an Indian guy that was a long term citizen and NOT an immigrant? He had the thick New Deli accent that so many naitive Virginians have?

Yes and a lot of it... So don't call them the starving poor. Call the kids in Africa the starving poor, call the starving kids in India the starving poor, call the starving kids in Japan the starving poor.

I'm sure alot of these "homeless" people aren't so homeless either. When you go to sporting events in downtown Detroit it's not unusual to see people in wheelchairs begging for money. On more than one occasion i've seen those same people walking just fine and pushing their wheelchair to their desired location. Detroit's economy is in the dump obviously, so if they can make money doing that in Detroit, imagine the cash they'd earn in Manhattan/LA. I'd beckon a large minority of these homeless people are just faking it an doing it as their main or secondary job.

Read my post 2 above yours, that's EXACTLY what's going on. You get these poor/low class beggers that think it's easier to beg for other peoples money than to work for it.

The people are real aggressive and don't even have mannors, very different than many of the TRUE homeless. These people trying to hustle are doing just that.

Absolutely. It's very possible the majority of these "homeless" people are fakers.

In the end, the real homeless folks are the ones suffering from this. As they are less intelligent/have real problems, thus are less likely to persuade people to give them money. When i was in NYC I saw quite a few homeless, and a fair share of people gave them dollars. I'd imagine quite a few can actually make a living doing this is big cities. With the amount of people and tourists who walk past them in a given day. All tax free too. We are talking about the total scum of the earth who engage in this activity.

Anyway, anyone who is obese/overweight and is "homeless" needs to be pestered on the spot. There is no excuse at all for being "homeless" yet being in such disgusting shape because you gorge yourself with food. There needs to be a law passed prohibiting obese people from begging for money.

but the welfare queen is *entitled* to eating cheetos and chomp away at those doritos. They are much more tasty than the bulk hot dogs, ramen noodles, fruits, vegetables and all the cheap food and healthy food that healthy people eat.

I don't think there should be any law that says you can't give to homeless fat people, I think people should just wise up and NOT do it.

Perhaps that is the case in DC, but c'mon down here to FLA and spend a day in South Beach... Smokin hot ladies as far as the eye can see...Most all home grown too... I'm sure that is typical in California, Texas and other states where they are more health conscious....

When I went to San Diego, I didn't see any fat people. Guys or girls. I was mostly in Pac Beach, Red lamp district and La Jolla so maybe I was just in better areas but still.

I also didn't see big east coast weight lifter type guys. I remember thinking how I didn't really see any guys bigger than me, bouncers included.

I guess weed is just more popular than drinking down there, surfing more than lifting...

South Beach had a lot of foreigners. It seemed like everybody was latin american, russian, australian, european, and then the NY crowd down there. Yes, there were much less fat people down there too and plenty of hotties.

DC has lazy fat government workers, Lawyers, lobbyists and hood rats begging for change... as far as the eye can see....
