I have been saying for months that with increased testing we will find more cases, that doesn't mean there's a surge in anything.

Why cases are surging. A different view from Willie99's view. That of health experts:

"Only two US states, Vermont and Missouri, have reported falls in the average number of reported coronavirus cases over the past week. The outbreak is surging nearly everywhere else.

Connecticut and Florida lead the nation, with increases of 50% or more. Another 27 states rose between 10% and 50%, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. More than 8.1m cases have been confirmed in the US, killing nearly 220,000 people. On Saturday, the university confirmed another 57,519 cases and 711 deaths.

In the midwest, states including Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin are seeing steep rises in case numbers, sourced by public health officials to the reopening of schools and colleges in major cities.

On Sunday, the US health secretary, Alex Azar, blamed the rise in cases on “mitigation fatigue”, before acknowledging more seniors should have worn masks at a Trump campaign event held indoors in Florida on Friday.

“Cases are increasing,” Azar told NBC’s Meet the Press. “We’re seeing this happen because we’re getting colder weather and we’re losing that natural social distancing that happens from being out of doors.”

Donald Trump visited two hotspots this weekend, refusing to talk about the surge at rallies in Michigan and Wisconsin. Michigan reached more than 2,000 daily cases on Thursday and Friday and in Wisconsin weekly cases reached the sixth-highest total since the pandemic first began.

Pressed by a Wisconsin radio station about sending the wrong message, Trump defended holding large rallies.

“I’m not a big shutdown believer,” Trump said, noting that his campaign primarily holds rallies outdoors, with crowds that are mostly masked. The president told reporters he “didn’t see anyone without” a mask.

But reporters on the ground paint a different picture, with attendees openly disregarding health advice. Thousands of attendees gathered without social distancing and without wearing masks.

...On Sunday, Trump tweeted a rare acknowledgment that cases are on the rise across the US. But he also expressed an oft-debunked theory that coronavirus surges can be directly attributed to increases in testing.

As with the high profile NFL cases (and White House staff), the vast majority of people don't even know they have it. As with the high profile NFL cases (and the White House staff), most recover quickly and without symptoms.

The hyperbole is politically motivated. COVID-19 is far from a death sentence they're selling it to be, but democrats and their media are trying to ride it out until November 3

The fact is that the survival rate of corona is 99.97% for anyone under 50. For a 74 year old man like Trump the survival rate is 96%

So Trump was playing Russian Roulette with his life in acting irresponsibly.

And under 50 people acting foolishly, selfishly & irresponsibly are putting the 50+ & "high risk" people's lives & health in peril.

COVID-19 SURVIVAL RATES (per CDC):

Ages 0-19: 99.997%

Ages 20-49: 99.98%

Ages 50-69: 99.5%

Ages 70+: 94.6%

So if you're 70+ there is a very real chance of dying from a C-19 infection. Greater than 5% or 5 in 100.

Also if you're 50-69 there is a very real chance of dying from a C-19 infection. Exactly 5 in 1000.

Anyone wanna play some "Russian Roulette". That's a fool's game.

Wake up.

The following is from:

Shutdowns were the most effective precaution there was from a cautious health expert perspective. That's why the experts advocated lockdowns. They worked to save millions of lives from death, as well as millions of others from illness, hospitalization, ICU & long term negative health effects. Which would have impacted economies negatively. And led to hospitals being overwhelmed & having to choose between who lives & who dies because they wouldn't have been able to treat many emergency patients on arrival & have been forced to turn many away from timely needed emergency care. Leading to many more deaths.

So you're saying you advocated a Swedish approach "all along" from the beginning of the pandemic? Are you not aware that Sweden has suffered way more infections and deaths relative to their Nordic neighbours with no advantage economically? The Sweden approach has been a failure!

Are you not aware that even apparently healthy young people are dying & suffering long term negative consequences from C-19, in addition to suffering in ICU's from the illness. Which you ignored from my previous post.

"I was infected with coronavirus in March, six months on I’m still unwell

Charlie Russell, 27, is one of an estimated 600,000 people with post-Covid illness, a condition that may give an insight into ME"

More on the long term negative effects of C-19 infection here:

https://terb.cc/xenforo/threads/c-19...vivors.723087/

As for the shutdowns, what is obviously clear is they have had many benefits:

1) serious vehicular accidents & deaths are way way down
2) flu deaths & serious complications have decreased tremendously
3) C-19 ill health & deaths are far less due to the lockdowns
4) likewise probably other communicable diseases (e.g. tuberculosis, HIV) have been greatly reduced by the extreme safety measures in place
5) street crimes have probably been highly reduced.
6) families have been able to spend more time together enjoying each others company while free from the slavery of that 4 letter word "work" that the vast majority hate. Giving more time for quality of life activities like sex & various entertainments.
7) abortions (child murder) are probably down.

Many kids & young people's lives have already been saved due to the worldwide lockdowns.

Because motor vehicle accident deaths are the #1 leading worldwide cause of death in such.

"Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens."

https://www.google.com/search?q=lead...hrome&ie=UTF-8

"Each year, 1.35 million people are killed on roadways around the world.4

"...Road traffic injuries are estimated to be the eighth leading cause of death globally for all age groups and the leading cause of death for children and young people 5–29 years of age. More people now die in road traffic crashes than from HIV/AIDS.4"

https://www.cdc.gov/injury/features/...nd%20cyclists.

As for "trillions in damage", there would have been huge economic damage with or without the shutdowns. Without shutdowns millions more people get ill, hospitalized, suffer long term ill health & death leading to employees being absent from work, businesses shutdown anyway, & in many cases for much longer, etc.

Live your life
Be in charge of your life
If you have health problems or are over 70 there are many risks. That is life
It is not a covid issue. It is a life issue

Live responsibly (wear a mask, etc) so you don't murder others years (or decades) before their time with your covid infection.

Thou shalt not kill.

I'm sure we can all agree not 100% of people wear masks 100% of the time. I'm sure we can also agree ALOT more folks wear masks now then say back in April. So if that is the case, and masks work, why are #'s going up? Just more testing?

The #1 key is social distancing and I think people just use mask wearing as an excuse not to social distance.

Masks probably help minimally but it is offset by the fact people won't social distance better with them on.

Doctors are advising seniors citizens to take flu shots, pneumonia shots (elderly) and covid vaccine once it’s out and proven.

The more we open up, the more people are going to get covid.

the more we close up, the more changes that this country shuts down.

maybe a new administration finds the happy medium???

The media is actually worse as there is no cure, and folks will continue to be brainwashed by their slanted views

A lie is a lie, regardless of which side it comes from...no one should blindly trust any media these days
