Pete Cochran (Michael Cole) had been thrown out of his Beverly Hills home by his rich parents and he had stolen a car. Lincoln Hayes (Clarence Williams III) was the product of a 13 kid ghetto home who had been arrested at the Watts riots. Julie Barnes (Peggy Lipton) was the homeless daughter of a prostitute.

I started this thread because earlier in the day I was watching the Law and Order episode from the mid 90's that earned Courtney B. Vance his job as ADA Carver on Criminal Intent.
In that episode Vance was just a regular bad guy, but it was a tremendous acting job which prompted me to say to myself, "he's a very underrated actor"

Morgan Freeman has always been a personal favorite of mine.
There are a lot more that I really like,wouldn't necessarily call them "the greatest actor of all time" but have always enjoyed watching like Richard Pryor,Red Fox,Ced,Ice Cube
