Athleticism is primarily about fitness, agility and strength. And strength is much broader than something like lifting weights. To me, other athletic assets, like hand to eye coordination, peripheral vision, anticipation, leadership and unique skills carry less weight in this type of discussion.
Golfers, bowlers, pool players, darts.......... don't have to be very athletic to be very good at their sport. CC Sabathia & Bartolo Colon may be great athletes, neither is athletic.

Baseball has plenty of athleticism, I just don't think Jason Veritek is that guy. Golf as some people with athleticism, the always injured Tiger is not one of them. The athleticism found in World Class soccer if off the charts, and Renaldo is one of the very best players in the world. I simply don't think there's much of a debate
