I suspected, when I read your posts, that you've "been around the block" a few times "Franko"; I too, go back 40 plus years (well before the internet) and survived the "hazards" of sports-betting...."I still own the farm" (ha). Your thoughts and ideas regarding a Las Vegas get-together are great. I fully understand the perils that we are protected from through the anonymity of the internet but I still sense that there are some great (stand-up) guys that contribute in this forum that know what they are talking-about (I) only mentioned a few in this thread.

Just in: Mangino was seen wearing heavy winter-clothing (understandable) so one can't tell how well he has maintained his weight-loss from last spring and early summer.
Can anyone imagine the size of his winter-coat(s).......probably tailor-made. More later. He still has to be the biggest coach in football...College or NFL

I'm no psyco-analyst but I saw the "shit and skit" act...(i.e. Jekyll & Hyde) in Junk's posts many times...... others did, as well. His M.O. was to stir-the-pot and aggravate the living hell out-of many of the Rx posters and then make claims of his high-rolling (big money) bets and how rich he was (a home in Palm Springs) and his ability "to-buy-and-sell" someone and then, to add insult to injury, he would threaten how he would have the living-shit kicked out of a poster at some mythical meeting-place if they continued to disagree with him. Then, when the opposing rage reached the boiling-point, he would back-off and compose (and pass-on) some legitimate jnfo/comments pertaining to college football......No question about-it.....he did follow the game or, at least, he read-up on it.

"Ol Junker" is no dummy.....however, I doubt that he is a serious gambler that wagers on sports......He just has a peculiar hobby/pass-time who loves to play mind-games with other people which is where he gets his "kicks & jollies". I too, would like to have him back.........for entertainment purposes only.

Junk would be my first choice provided that I see him first at a distance of 12 to 15 ft. and with my M26 Taser in hand.

For some reason I picture Junk as being like that old guy on the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial in the overcoat and fedora, who asks that guy if he was going to eat that last wing. "Are you a man, or are you a little baby boy?"

I'm sure every serious poster here in the Rx would agree that Conan......I'm convinced he was an abused child just trying to even-the-score....
Just out-of curiosity, do you ever bet the NFL...(Super Bowl) ?

I would love to have an evening of steaks and beers with CoachCB, Conan, GoSooners, Junk, Mack, Roll Tide, Russ and Ty Bounce. Add the two best mods here, JOH and Hache and we would have one fun and entertaining evening.

Gurarantee you if this ever happened....we would all leave good friends.

I been around long enough to recognize good football people but more importantly...just damn good folks!

Amen to that Mr. "Clover'".........With "Roll-Tide" present, we'd all have to be on our toes...he is sharp with stats/dates/history etc......I also keep mentioning JBLonghorn.....He has a long list of "lady-friends"....maybe he'd bring several with him for pleasant company.......we all know how those Texas women are....ha

There isn't any question about the affection that Las Vegas has for you "Memphy".....You are also "loved" here in the Rx Forum......I'm confident most everyone agrees....You are definitely counted-in. Personally, I think a "storm-cloud" would be putting (it) mildly......I think you are in the "tornado" category when you visit Las Vegas....Good Luck Sunday.

Much as I'd like to see ol' Peety get his groove back and do it in the NFL, I just can't bring myself to fade Manning. He is making it very tough on Andrew Luck to get a solid footing taking on his new responsibilities in Indy, good as he may be. But I suppose if you are going to be compared to a guy like Peyton Manning, it's probably a good idea to be Andrew Luck.

Seattle might be getting a little too much love with just a couple points of separation. I don't see why the linemaker set them up as skinny favorites in the opener. But one word of caution, I'm no better than the average slug when it comes to making wise decisions in the pros. Maybe it's because I don't do NFL like I used to.

Hey, aren't they calling this one the Pot Bowl being that Washington and Colorado are the 2 states where marijuana is 100% legal? Can you imagine some of the Super Bowl commercials this time around? (assuming that the censors don't get hold of some of them)

I also have trouble fading Manning, but with 71% of the public on Denver and the sharps liking Seattle, I may have to lay off the game. I'm not any good at the NFL anyway. Or for that fact any pay for play sport. Manning has an embarrassment of riches to throw to at WR. And nobody has been able to stop them. So it probably comes down to if the Seattle defense can get to Pey Pey and rattle him. That's anybody's guess. But it's probably the key to the game. I think Seattle was probably the original favorite in this game based partly on how well they've done ATS against the better NFL teams in the league. That does say a little about them, although overall I don't think their schedule was quite as good as Denver's. I don't know, this one has the feel that it could be a game for the ages. So far the only betting I've done for the game is getting on a couple football boards. And I also played a prop play on the second half being the higher scoring half. Over 60% of the Super Bowl's have had higher scoring 2nd halfs, so I'm just playing the odds there.
