Lee Trevino basically was a asshole. Was watching a senior tournament in Maui a few years ago. and he wasn't pleasant to be around to say the least. To bad he wasn't paired up with Arnie that day and he would have found out what class is all about.

Certainly have to second the motion that "The King" is all class...a mentor to all.

Caught Arnie on a rain-delay at one of the senior opens, a small line formed at his golf-cart as he gladly chatted and signed autographs for all interested in spending a little time with this legend. :suomi:

Some great posts here...

The only PRICK I've ever come across was Franco Harris.

When I was a little kid I got to be a batboy in an old-timers game and Bob Feller was the big star for the gate. He was DRUNK OFF HIS ASS and had a flask in the dougout! My dad was really pissed off and took him yard that game! Of course his fastball was about 60 mph but it was still cool to see pops go long on a HOFer. He wouldn't sign autographs after the game either.

Quick AROD story, a friend took his 10 yr. old son to go see the Rangers spring training when AROD was on the team. They stayed afterwards so the boy could get autographs. After getting a few autographs, they see a guy hitting balls off a tee into a fence on a practice field. They walk over and its AROD. The boy asked for his autograph and AROD asked him to come over to the other side of the fence. He let the boy hit of the tee and spent about five minutes chatting them up and giving him some tips. Then he gave the boy his bat and batting gloves. Guess who that boys hero is......Thought that was a classy gesture....it's really all about the kids.

Winky, why would an athlete want to sign for a grown man? There is a 99% chance whatever he signs is going straight to EBAY. You are the 1% who is an actual collector, maybe you could hire a kid to go with you!

Very true, it is ashame that athletes think that anyone over 16 trying to get their autographs is immediately a scumbag, because most of them are. Most of these lowlifes will stalk athletes and pay little kids to go get autographs for them.

From my experiences....

Best: Ray Lewis, might be surprising but he was wonderfully nice after a Jaguars game and stood there and talked to everyone and signed for everyone

Great: Aaron Beasley, John Jurkovic, Vinny Testaverde, Peter Boulware, Javon Walker, Alexander Johnson, Ernie Sims, Bryant McFadden, Diego Romero, Mark Brunell, Danny Kanell, AJ Feeley, Alex Smith (49ers QB), Quinn Gray, Brenston Buckner, Mike Mularkey, Mark Breuner, Justin Strelczyk, Chuck Noll, Bill Walsh

Jerks: John Lynch, Tony Siragusa, Emmitt Smith, Chad Billingsley, Dan Marino

Best Jimmy Ellis former heavyweight champ.I was in AC for Tyson-Biggs fight and I think his son was fighting on the undercard.I sat next to him at breakfast and he told some great Ali stories as he was his sparring partner in his early days.I was a huge Ali fan and you could tell how much he cared about Ali by the stories he told.

Worst Rick Peterson who was at the time pitching coach with the A's.I was playing golf with some friends and as we made the turn we come across Peterson arguing with the starter after being told he would have a 1 hour wait.He started swearing at him telling him don't you know who I am.Starter laughed at him and told him I don't care if you're Reggie Jackson you'll still have a 1 hour wait.He went stomping off saying he'll never play there again.

Jimmy Jackson...he grew up in middle class neighborhood with decent parents, but fronts like hes some type of gang banger.

Acted the same way when he was at OSU and still plays his silly act at 35 yo.

A total asshole and joke...which is why hes played for numerous NBA teams, for Im sure the NBA crowd knows he's a fraud.

Lennox Lewis. Met him the year after he won the Olympics (1989). One would think he'd been appointed God the way he talked.

Nobody has signed more autographs in the history of sports than Cal Ripken, Jr. What a great guy.

Lots of pricks out there.....much of it caused by everyday people who always believe it their right to intrude on celebrities. Not that it makes the celebrities right to be pricks....but so many people think it's their God-given right to have a piece of the stars' lives.

jim harbaugh-- my friend argued with him at the now famous CLUB RIO (Stephen Jackson made famous) after colts had played Buffalo Bills and my friend ended up grabbing him by the shirt and saying "I smell Bryce Paup all over you" which was followed up by free drinks all night compliments of Big Play Ray who told us he "hated that punk" (referring to Harbaugh)

later that night my buddy told Richard Dent that Russ Francis ate him up in the Super Bowl.. to which Mr Dent replied "Man I was the MVP"

Best: many hockey players including Ray Bourque and Cam Neely. Ellis Burks of the Red Sox. Tiny, Nate Archibald of the Celts

Worst: Wade Boggs. Boggs and I had to be separated in a bar and he was escorted out. His ego was way out of control and he was way out of line. This was right before his affair with margo Adams came out publically so he might have been under some pressure but no excuse for this.

Also George Bell of the Blue Jays...this is well known I feel sure sort of like Sapp...

Kirk Gibson, but then again Gibby was an asshole to everyone so why would I be any different. Didn't matter he was and still is one of my alltime favorites.
