As for MLB, I would argue that Greg Maddux defended his position as well as anyone. I don't know the exact number of Golden Gloves.

I'll go with Lawrence Taylor for the NFL.

He is the best defensive player of any sport - the opposing team just had to forget about throwing to whom ever he covered - the dominator in hockey is up there too
