Who thinks the dispute thread should be incorporated into the main room here?

General, Shrink, etc.
I posted here in this thread last night that I disagreed with the having the disputes thread separate (it was a sellout by the RX) and that the disputes with a lot of recent posts should be pinned to the top of the main forum.

My post was deleted.

Talk about censorship!

I was on late last night, and i DELETED no such thing java...

I dont see any mention of it either........

Hardly EVER is a post deleted here....If something is wrong, or bashing, or namecalling, it gets EDITED, not deleted....and this edited post will still show in the thread.....

it is insulting to my intelligence to have created a room called 'dispute with RX advertisers'....

this serves no other purpose but to HIDE these disputes....

that is what the OFFSHORE forum is all about....

I think mods should handle disputes privately between poster and book

No need to go public as it does no good for any of us

Well, I saw my post after a refresh, so it got deleted somehow.

SportSavant-
I agree. The way things are going:
1) all the "praise book" posts will sooon be pinned to the top
2) We'll be required to read pop-ups containing the praises before each post.
3) We will have to sign "loyalty oaths".

If the decision is to keep the Disbute Forum separate from the Offshore Forum, rather then place the former at the bottom of the page consideration should be given to moving the Disbute Forum directly below the Offshore Forum where the readers could more readily view pertinent information going on in the industry both good and bad. Certainly for the masses, disputes are of greater importance then Bookie Chat. The way it is now, seems to imply a conserted effort to hide or bury the subject of disputes with the RX advertisers which is neither good for the book or the player.

Additionally, I have mentioned this is the past a couple of times and will offer it for consideration once again. The Offshore/Online Forum has now become more of an open forum for any and all topics rather then geared to specifics about the Offshore industry. Truly believe there is a need for a new "Open Discussion Main Forum" as the first listed forum followed by the "Offshore/Online Forum" and then the "Disputes With RX Advertisers Forum". This way discussions on the varied topics would still be found at the top of the page where many members congregate, while the subject and matters related to the Offshore industry could be found more easily just below and not be cluttered with every topic posters present. Would really appreciate the Board consider this idea. Just my thoughts.

I agree that the main forum has too many topics unrelated to gambling industry or the books.
A "non-offshore" forum should exist and posts like "who likes pepperoni?" should be immediated moved there.
The "disputes with advertisers" is certainly not an "Extra". At the very least, it should be in the offshore section above "Newbies", but really, it should just be integrated back into the main forum.

The rubber room still exists for posts that go too far. Edited out reference to pedophilia. wilheim

Wilheim,

Did you forget to include JOURNEYMAN in your moderators email addresses, or is he no longer a mod?

I never waste my time reading those disputes because it is usually a guy with 4 addresses and 4 different names that is putting in bets for his cousins sister in law son, stuff like that

The moderators seem to be a little quick on the censorship/delete key these days.

You editted my post which contained a f***ing joke that if someone started an inappropriate thread (pedophila by a book owner) that after it got moved to the rubber room, and least one poster would come out praising the book because they always pay.

The post was a satirical commentary on how money, rather than any real sense of ethics, holds sway in this industry (and occasionally the censorship on this forum).

As for your comment about moderators dealing with player disputes: Several of the threads on the swept under the rug "disputes with advertiser" forum are merely criticisms of policies. Not all of them claim a book stole, but many are about stuff like rule changes or amount of juice or getting junk emails or poor customer service. These are all legitimate topics.

jjgold-
You've been involved in your fair share of disputes and have come to the defense of players. Unless you are now claiming that all your support was misplaced and that your posts should have been hidden away, you should be in full support of putting al the non-rubber room "disputes" threads back on the main formum.

Java atleast admit that 50% of the time maybe more, a so called dispute is nothing more than a disgruntled ex employee of the book that's being attacked...Keep in mind its a fine line the Mods have to take on these important issues, and stop assuming so much....

This is the largest forum of its kind with 1000's of posters on any given day, you have to realize what unsubstantiated attacks can do to a book , especially if the dispute isn't even legitimate.

Maybe the disputes starting in a sep forum is the right thing to do,,,but after review by Posters/Mods, if the dispute appears legit why not move it up to the "main forum"? Naturally whether the accused is an advertiser or not should be irrelevant. This would weed out the BS, as well as inform everyone of a legimate gripe.... Just a thought.

Thanks for batting clean-up. :)

Journeyman-
Even if 50% of disputes are from unhappy ex employees, what about the other 50% that aren't. (Also, ex-employees sometimes have useful information.)

I have always viewed the one-poster wonders suspiciously, unless their identities or claims can be verified by the mods. Even so, it might be a legitimat complaint. Depending upon who jumps in to attack or defend the post, the forum reaches a consensus.

Superhero has it right about proper disputes belonging in the main forum.

Shrink, I'm glad to see you you were on the side of the angels on this one (even if some angels are occassionally devilish.

... I'm glad I started saving my posts. :)

Agree with JC, I posted the same thing the other day when the RX asked for feedback. I can understand the reasons behind it, book pays good money to advertise here yet watches as one or two people with an agenda run it through the sawmill just for the hell of it. I can see that side of it, however I think that the readers are aware very quickly of what is bogus and what is not bogus. At times the books are a little overly sensitive I believe, of course if I was cutting the checks I might see it differently.

Overall I can live with it either way, I just get pissed when I leave the site and remember later that any potential book/player problems from advertisers are no longer in the off-shore forum. Hard to retrain this old monkey, I'm so used to reading here for it I forget it is moved. Potential problems and just plain old feedback is probably one of the biggest reasons I come here, to keep an eye on what is going on off-shore. I suspect that is the same for a lot of readers. Being the site's advertisers is the places a lot of readers are funded at it would really be nice if the site was forthcoming with everything we can read about these books, that was the purpose of the RX in it's earliest days. For select information to be elsewhere seems a little like an overreaction but not a dealbreaker, I'll get used to it if I have to.
