funk,

Happy 3rd anniversary kiddo. I think we might be long lost brothers, seeing we think exactly alike. We both think Farley is the best.. (he has to be) and we both find Cheri O'teri to get on our nerves..

Bucs,

She did a great Barbara Walters, too, but overall, you just had to hate her.. She is annoying.. I think the all time worse skit ever on SNL, and that made no sense at all, and was not funny, was that stupid cheerleading of her and Will Ferrell. WTF was that about? What was so funny about it. If you want to see how annoying Oteri was, just watch her next time in that cheerleading skit, and you will agree with me..

BTW, if any of you have comedy central, SNL is on now as we speak till 6pm est, and the old one is on with Chevy, Belushi, Gilda, Aykroyd, and the boys.

That was some funny stuff. Hartman was the best IMHO.

"Samouri Tailor" and the original Weekend Update with Bill Murray and Jane Curtain. And, last but not least Eddie Murphy's Gumby, dammit.

grindingwheel - The original Weekend up date was with Chevy Chase.(I think he was the writer that created it) Chevy left after the 1st year and then Dan Ackroyd took over for a few years and when Dan left Bill Murray joined SNL.

I loved the Point-Counterpoint with Ackroyd and Curtain.....Jane you Ignorant Slut!

And Belushi was the greatest with His Samouri dry cleaners and the taylor bit. He was a natural.

And what about the "Cheese Burger Cheese Burger! skit?

IB:
Your so right about John Candy on SCTV. Johnny La Rue, Dr. Tongue, William B., etc. Great show and too bad it was so short-lived. Rick Moranis , Dave Thomas, Harold Ramis, Gene Levy, Andrea Martin and Joe Flaherty on that show also made me laugh until it hurt.

bulldog77 - Johnny La Rue was great!

Do they show reruns of SCTV anywhere?
I'd sure like to see it or tape it.

For some of the guys that may not know SCTV = Second City television. And it was a Canadian show/production. one of the best

How about a Polka?

Mike Myers, favorite sketch.. Wayne's World

Chris Farley as talk show host interviewing Paul McCartney- Farley:You.. you.. you remember when you were with The Beatles?
Paul McCartney: Yeah, sure.
Chris Farley: That was awesome!
Paul McCartney: Yeah, it was...

Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat, classic- absolutely priceless

Billy Crystal as Ali, Sammy Davis Jr, and OMG- you know those things? (other guy says, meat thermometers?) yeah, that's it! So I took one of those meat thermometers.. (and shoved it in your ear?) YES! oooohhh that smarts.. I hate when that happens..

My favorite Gilda scenes were when she played a little girl. Lisa Lubner and Todd (Bill Murray) the nerds. The Loud family..
So many great bits it's just impossible to choose.

Intuition bet,

I can't believe you mentioned this one.. One of the all time greats. In a diner, people would come in and order, and they would say.. yeah, gimme a hamburger, and Belushi would say.. no hamburger, sheeseburger.. and then they'd say, ok, gimme a coke, and belushi would say.. sorry, no coke, pepsi.. that was great stuff

Also, another good one was Eddie Murphy with the Ganja and telling the audience, do we smoke it, yea ya yea yea. or something like that. I was too young back then to remember perfectly, but I do remember it was really funny.

And how about Chris Farley the motivational speaker known as Matt Foley, who lives in a trailer, down by the river.. And he'd fall and smash the table. Man, that guy was great.

Adam Sandler singing his own song inventions with his guitar at the Weekend Update desk was also funny.

Skits that i didn't find funny at all.

Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri cheerleading..

Church Lady (believe it or not)

Mike Myers as Sarah Hartman the Jewish lady..

Wayne's World i also found not funny at all.. (believe it or not)

I can't belive no one mentioned:

Buck Henry

Remember when he used to baby sit the girls?
Gilda, Loraine etc.

Ok little girls let's play horsey...and then he would take Polariods etc of them in all kinds of poses.

He was Uncle Buck their Pedo pervert babysitter.

Now a days he and the producers would get arrested for even thinking of doing a skit like that!

Sick Gambler - That skit was based on a real hamberger joint. In fact it is still in business, as I just saw a show the other night on cable and they mentioned it. To think there is people having a burger there today cracks me up!
