I think you know what I mean. At the end, he got in over his head. Thats why when time was up, he didnt even try to fight Iraq vs US. He went to hide in a ditch hoping to somehow quietly escape after it died down.
But for decades, he was the glue that kept the Middle East in line. He wanted to take over the Middle East and stop there. Remember, during the 80's he was considered an allie.
