I paddled out there in December 1998. I was on a Norcal trip and thought Id' give it try. Just left Santa Cruz, was stoned and mulling over my ex-semi-gf's new bf.

They were suiting up. I suited up, talked to Jeff (the O.G. guy) there. Walked the trail.. Doc and Josh? paddled out up top.
I paddled out through the lagoon. It was windy as f... and only 15 feet, but still the biggest sh.. i've seen.
I made it through like 30 ropes of whitewater, to the semi-outside area by the bus size Rock. Turned and caught 1, 2, and then 3 waves.
It wasn't that gnarl, just a lot of paddling in (cuz of all the wind) and an elevator drop. Then Boom! Very loud.
It was fun, but it was a relief to get back on the sand cuz the whitewater was washing straight into the perpendicular jetty.
I couldn't do it today, but I was younger and stupider, so I gave it a try. I'm not ball-less like Jack off in Herer...
