Seems like many of the great NFL QB's of the past have gone in the second or third rounds. It could very well be the same this time around. I think all of these QB's are a crapshoot. Especially this year. I know one thing, Cleveland was the last place JFF wanted to go. Good luck with those cold December winds coming off Lake Erie. I know that not much seems to be expected from McCarron since the media isn't talking a whole lot about him. But I actually think he could turn out to be a good NFL QB without all of the big expectations of a first rounder to shoulder. Plus he's a smart kid, and very competitive. So given the right team, I like his chances as long as he's not thrown to the wolves in his first season.

I was just talking about this with a buddy of mine. We were talking about how bad Houston needs a QB and who they should go after that's still available and could be a franchise QB. And we started talking about McCarron. Being an SEC guy (and football fan in general, hell, it's BAMMER), I saw him play a lot. He never really jumped out at me as a flashy QB, but he was usually a good QB, solid and smart and made good decisions, all the things you want in a QB. Then I saw him on Gruden's QB camp. I was blown away. I was blown away at his football mind. Particularly, his ability to recall specific plays in specific situations from a year or two earlier. It reminded me of watching Spurrier or Saban talk about plays in games from years ago. That shit blows my mind. But I was also tremendously impressed with how much of a tactician he is watching film and how much he studies and pays attention to the little things like changing his drop step to put a different foot forward or some mundane bullshit. Point is: I think McCarron could be a damn good NFL QB if he landed in the right place and could learn under the right guy. And we could stare at his mom's big ol' fake tits some more. Oh, and Katherine Webb.

Brett Favre was drafted in the 2nd round and Bart Starr...remember him, was drafted in the 17th round out of Alabama...both were Super Bowl winners while playing for the Packers and are in the Hall of Fame. I've seen a lot of first-round picks fall flat on their asses during the past 50 years.

And don't forget, my alltime favorite QB Joe Montana didn't go until late in the 3rd round. Mainly because of a poor NFL Combine rating. They said he had a weak arm. Yeah right!

Montana wasn't the greatest athlete at quarterback. BUT...if the game's on the line...he was the BEST in NFL history to pull out the win. Joe seem to just work in a different zone than other quarterbacks of his day. The guy had ice water in his veins!

As an old timer,
the Baltimore Colts Johnny U was the same and my all time favorite NFL quarterback.

McCarron does not have big time NFL talent, been saying that for years. He does not have a big arm which means he won't be able to throw the ball deep over the middle. He does not handle pressure very well either. In addition, it sounds like he's a bit of a prima-dona based on what some of the NFL analysts have been saying. One other thing that might make GMs hesitant, despite Bama dominating the SEC, their players don't have a very good track record of translating to the NFL and being productive. Other than Julio Jones, the other offensive and defensive player have not really lived up to their expectations.

I read the same WinOne. I heard he turned off some scouts during interviews... He was reading his scouting reports online. Also a few of the scouting reports basically said he was an average athlete with NFL talent surrounding him. But then went on to say that if Dalton isn't going to be the guy that regardless of his mechanics that get sloppy at times, he has the ability to be a starter.

I still think after everything is said and done Bridgewater will have a better career than any of these QB's. Although a legitimate argument can also be made for Bortles.
