“The bipartisan electors’ letter raises very grave issues involving our national security,” John Podesta said Monday. “Electors have a solemn responsibility under the Constitution and we support their efforts to have their questions addressed.
“Each day our campaign decried the interference of Russia in our campaign and its evident goal of hurting our campaign to aid Donald Trump. Despite our protestations this matter did not receive the attention it deserved by the media in our campaign. We now know that the CIA has determined Russia’s interference in our elections was for the purpose of electing Donald Trump. This should distress every American.”
What should distress every American is the way the left, the liberals, the progressives and their handmaidens in the press have discarded reasonable conversation to try out every absurd alarm, one after the other, to see whether one could stick, to undermine and undercut the results of what everyone agrees was a free and fair election on Nov. 8. None has worked. More than a month later, the republic stands.
Hysteria now threatens to become insanity. Rep. Jim Hines of Connecticut, a Democrat, says it came to him in the night, as if Marley’s ghost was rattling his chains at the bedside, “that this man is not only unqualified to be president, he’s a danger to the republic. I do think the Electoral College should choose someone other than Donald Trump to be president. That will lead to a fascinating legal issue, but I would rather have a legal issue, a complicated legal problem, than to find out the White House was now the Kremlin’s chief ally.”
Accusing a president-elect of treason, of plotting with the enemy against his country, and with no evidence at all, is something that even a congressman from Connecticut should understand is beyond the limits of rational and decent political debate. Alas, it’s par for the course on the left this season.
The sudden deep concern by President Obama and the Democrats about Russia and cyber warfare, is a bit rich. The Washington Post, which continues so deep in denial that its side lost the election that it may never find the way to the next stage of grief, hangs its survival on the conclusion of the intelligence agencies — which, to put it charitably, have a dismal record of finding out what’s going on anywhere.
A competent president and a responsible “intelligence community” would have done something about the Russians and their hackers a long time ago. Whining doesn’t work.

We are now in a kind of political no-man's-land between an administration on its way out and a new administration taking shape. Predictions are always risky -- and nowhere more so than in times like these. What we can do, however, is assess where we are, and what some of the opportunities and dangers are.
The opportunities are many, which is to say that many things are in desperate need of changing, beginning with rebuilding our dangerously neglected and undermined military forces. The monstrosity of ObamaCare needs to be gotten rid of, not just cosmetically adjusted.
Our fundamental freedoms under the Constitution are at stake in the choice of the next nominee to become a Justice of the closely divided Supreme Court. We need someone with both the depth and the strength to resist the pressures and the temptations that have seduced too many supposedly "conservative" justices, over the years, into betraying Constitutional principles.
The current hysteria over "fake news" -- including hysteria by people who have done more than their own fair share of faking news -- shows the continuing efforts of the political left to stifle free speech in the country at large, as they already have on academic campuses.
These are just some of the opportunities the incoming administration has, now that the Republicans finally have control of both Houses of Congress and the White House -- which is to say, now that they no longer have any excuses for not doing what they said they were going to do, when they were running for election.

Opportunities are of course also challenges, and few of these challenges can be met without paying a price. Will the slim Republican majority in the Senate put bipartisan cooperation ahead of the Constitution, when it comes to choosing a Supreme Court Justice based on principles, rather than on avoiding a nasty fight with the Democrats?
The same question arises when it comes to repealing ObamaCare. Democrats threw bipartisanship to the winds when it came to passing ObamaCare. Republicans who wanted to have an input on this sweeping legislation were bluntly reminded of the outcome of the elections. "I won," President Obama told them.
Now that the Republicans have won -- not only the presidency but also the Congress, as well as most governorships and state legislatures across the country -- do they have the guts to do what they were elected to do?
Surely no one can be unaware that one of the reasons why such an unorthodox outsider as Donald Trump won the Republican nomination, and then the election, is that Republican voters were fed up with the repeated betrayals by the Republican establishment, going all the way back to President Bush 41 and his betrayal of his bold assertion: "Read my lips, no new taxes!"
What do we know, at this point, about the people being tapped as nominees for key positions in the incoming Trump administration? By and large, they are of a higher caliber than usual, especially General James N. Mattis who has been selected to become Secretary of Defense.

The love of rhetoric by both the media and Donald Trump has caused General Mattis' nickname of "Mad Dog Mattis" to become a distraction from the facts about a man of both high intellect and a great concern for the troops he commanded. He has, for example, taken it upon himself to personally visit many families of those who died fighting in the battles he led.
As a personal note, I have had the privilege of having discussions with many military people who have visited the Hoover Institution over the years, and have been impressed with officers of many ranks, including General Mattis. The young officers I have encountered are head and shoulders above so many young people of similar ages who are graduates of even our most prestigious colleges and universities.
The liberal media are already expressing worry about the number of military people being considered for key positions in the new administration. They would be worried about anyone who has not been brainwashed in the political correctness that reigns among the intelligentsia.
The key individual in any administration, however, is the President -- and that remains the key mystery in the new administration.

Before Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) was supporting President-elect Donald Trump’s policies and willing to work with him, he was adamantly opposed to the Republican candidate.
At one of his campaign rallies, Sanders went as far to say that Trump would not become president.
Through multiple interviews since then, Sanders admitted that Trump had tapped into what the American people were feeling during the election.
Sanders also said that he is now willing to work with Trump, who will enter the White House on Jan. 20.

[FONT=&quot][h=1]Measures of Economic Optimism Are Shooting Up All Over the Place After Trump's Win[/h]A morning in America moment?

Following the election, a number of indexes that track confidence have jumped, with respondents citing the potential for deregulation and tax cuts once President-elect Donald Trump takes office as the cause of their increased confidence.
Homebuilders are the latest segment of the economy to testify to this surge in optimism.
The National Association of Homebuilders' index of sentiment soared to an 11-year high in December, despite the sizable rise in bond yields since the election.

“This notable rise in builder sentiment is largely attributable to a post-election bounce, as builders are hopeful that President-elect Trump will follow through on his pledge to cut burdensome regulations that are harming small businesses and housing affordability,” said NAHB Chairman Ed Brady.
Improvements were made across the spectrum, but the biggest was in a sub-index that tracks homebuilders' six-month sales outlook, which rose to its highest level since June 2005.
The University of Michigan's December index of consumer confidence also continued its upward post-election trend, rising to 98. A sub-index that tracks respondents' opinion of the government's economic policies spiked to levels not seen since 2009.

Small businesses also "like unified Republican government," noted Neil Dutta, head of U.S. economics at Renaissance Macro Research LLC.
The National Federation of Independent Businesses' index of optimism among small businesses posted its sharpest surge since 2009 in November to reach 98.4. An expected improvement in business conditions among small business owners surveyed after Nov. 8 was the largest contributor to the improvement in the headline print.

Should animal spirits kick into force — thanks to consumers loosening their purse strings and businesses, optimistic about future demand, more willing to invest — this would buoy economic expansion, notwithstanding any fiscal stimulus from the incoming administration.

Our friend Russ was spot on, he called it, he called it a long time ago

Obama is trying to destroy this country by dividing it, he's complicit in trying to undermine Trump in every way imaginable. He's a lying POS

He encourages riots
He divides us economically
He divides us socially
He divides us racially
He lies about everything
He failed at everything (except dividing us)

Liberals should STFU and beg for forgiveness, maybe we'll give you a voice again someday. Just not now, you lost, stop destroying your neighbors property and get a fucking life already
