When you play craps, what is your strategy (how do you play?)

I think I saw that the don't pass bet has the smallest HA but you get the largest dirty looks. Next is the don't come bet....Do you care what people think?

do you play numbers? Hard ways?

do you press, parlay, pull numbers?

Boy, this brings back memories of the classic heatohio thread. Anyone else remember that one?

Maxing out the odds bet is the best basic thing you can do. Only bet in the casino that has zero house edge. Unfortunately, I don't believe odds bets count as part of your player rating...so you can lose a fair amount of money pretty quickly, even at a $10-$15 table. On the other hand, craps is probably the only game where you have a legit shot at turning $100 into $1k or more if you hit the right table at the right time.

I came across this a while back. Curious to see some numbers behind it...

Pass line with full odds and then hard 6 and 8 with one full press when it comes. This is what I am doing now anyways. Sometimes it is not enough action so I play the 4 and 10 also (not the hard ones)

One method that did good for me was a negative progression on the don't pass.

I think I was going $10, $30, $60 or something like that....but 3 was the max per shooter...if he made 3 passes I wait it out til the next shooter and start over with $10....so $100 was the most I could lose on one shooter.

no back odds.

I didn't do it much because like I said, I hate 8 people screaming at every pass and saying "good for you" when I lose my don't pass bets....pisses me off

you are leaving money on the table !

no house edge for them

I always put back odds...the only time I didn't do it was when I did this negative progression....i liked the $100 max loss per shooter as well as I don't know how the fuck to calculate negative progression with back odds for don't pass...i imagine 3 points made in a roll could cost me over a thousand

JDeuce, after watching about 25 min of that video (here and there) I kind of see what he is doing...he is basically trying to win money on hot shooters and that huge don't come bet is pretty much just to hedge his bets

I am not a good enough number guy (especially with craps), but I have to think there is a better way to accomplish what he is doing

Shadow you have it right .... Seems like a good system I never see guys playing that way.

i play like BAS - max out the point and place a few numbers usually have 75 -100 on the second roll,I usually wait until I have won my money back then I start pressing. if it comes up 7 right away or before a win few bets I am fugged. What this guy is saying is hedge against that 7 with a don't come bet.

Makes a lot of sense.

Pass line, one or two come bets, full odds on everything... Had good luck last week in Vegas - for about an hour guys were consistently rolling 15+ times without sevening-out. Never will play anywhere with lower than 3-4-5 odds.

I play the don't pass line and lay odds, after 3 straight losses sit out till next shooter..I also play what ever amount I have on don't pass on the pass line, that way a 7 or 11 doesn't beat you..Basically, you're just taking the free odds bet and laying against the point, and mostly pushing the pass and don't pass bet, you lose occasionally on the pass line

This is how I play. Table gets hot will spread more.

I play pass line, full odds. If a 6 or 8 is the point, I bet the other number (6 or 8) heavily. If it's a hot table I will add 5 & 9 or if I'm running well. That's about it for me, win big sometimes, lose big sometimes.

I will say I rarely see someone lose playing don't pass with odds. Quite the opposite, they usually have a fairly large stack

can you explain this again? you don't pull the pass line bet after a point is established?
you have a pass and don't pass bets of the same amount, but then you are laying the don't after the comeout?
so you're only risk after a point is established is the amount that you are laying?

i played craps last time i was in vegas and atlantis last year but i still have to ask my buddy questions often bc i havent played it enough but i have a question for BAS and others who play the max odds. when the point is established say and 8, and you say you jump on say the 6,5,9 are you buying directly on those #s before you roll the dice again? i would tend to do that esp when i was drinking. once the point was established sometimes i would just buy onto every # in hopes of the shooter just peppering the board but not making points but my buddy (who is very good far as the correct way to play the game) wont do that b/c he isnt getting the best odds. what i think he does is he puts another bet on the pass line and and takes max odds on that #.

this is a great thread i love playing the game its very interesting and exciting game
