Second that, Wil.

JJ, I'd also like to point out that the woman you chose to deride is pregnant. Real nice touch.

Also, John Daly was a no-name when he won the PGA in 1991, but then, you don't really know sports, do you?

Thanks Jazz. JJ I really don't enjoy picking on you but some of the stuff you come up with is really ignorant. You have zero knowledge of Shaun Micheel's wife but still call her a whore. What is that all about? Why not try to look at the glass being half filled for once in your life, say and do something positive.

Wilhelm...he does it all the time.

HE"S FUKKING WORTHLESS!

Royal didn't go under, Sbuxx is paying, 5 Dimes is alive & well (notice he's backing off that one).

100% pure BULLSHIT--always has been, always will be.

The thing about winning a major in golf or tennis, or throwing a no-hitter in baseball, or even something more off-beat like winning The World Series of Poker is: Its a single event. You are under no obligation to do it again, if it happens once to a guy, like today, how can that be bad? Look back over the years plenty of well known atheletes never did what that kid did today. No way it is bad for golf, just like some obscure German chick winning the tennis US Open would be. People have their favorites and are entitled to root for them but to call anyone who beats them foul and insulting names is badsportsmanship at its worse.

JJ is right and you guys need to back off.

Golf's demise from the great spectator and participant sport that it was, was triggered by Jack Fleck vanquishing Ben Hogan in the 1955 US Open and unknown "Hamburger" Palmer's win in the Canadian Open the same year.

Sharp post jj. The game has certainly never been the same.

LeRoy: the argument can certainly be made, but on what basis? Because Tiger hasn't won a MAJOR this year (believe he's won a few tourneys, right?)? If you're going to compare it to 1955 when TV was in its infancy to now, and claim it has 'never been the same', I'd sure like to see some objective figures and points made. Palmer electrified the sport, then Nicklaus, then Tiger, but not once has a contagion of 'no-names' ever been harmful to the game. Christ, 2 majors this year in a row by 'no-names' and Chicken Little is worried the sky is falling. But more to the point, I think the over-saturation of televised golf and golf courses themselves, along with a declining economy has hurt the game - ain't easy to pay the dues to play golf when you ain't got the green. 'No-names' attract attention because people root for them. I have yet to see one iota of proof that the game has suffered in any single way due to non-Tigers winning - and I'm a Tiger fan!

But really, I never would have posted at all except for this asshole's 'whore' comment about the guy's wife.

has tongue firmly in cheek as far as JJ is concerned. BTW Leroy I enjoyed your Dylan references this morning. Here is an oldie:

'Cause the road is long, it's a long hard climb
I been on that road too long of a time
Yes the road is long, and it winds and winds
When I think of the love that I left behind.

LMFAO!! Damn it all, you're right, Wil, I totally missed that - I place the blame squarely on a bottle of 'no-name' bourbon. Damn, and Leroy was so obvious! 40 lashes for me

Wil,

From "Rambing, Gambling Willie" by Bob Dylan

The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3 1991

Don't want to turn this into a Bob chat, so I'll just post the last verse which I think is timely for sure.

"So all you rovin' gamblers, wherever you might be,
The moral of this story is plain to see.
Make your money while you can, before you have to stop
For when you pull the dead man's hand, your gamblin' days are up
And its ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, Roll

And guys while I'm on the quotation kick, on a serious note, let me leave you with one man's thought before I shut down tonight.

"Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes crimes out of things that are not crimes."
