Tony Kornheiser. He's leaving radio March 26th.
His show was best when he used to parody Jim
Rome and have a Snack Off. Malomars was one of the contenders. He use to call things epic and classic like Rome.

Rome was good until he decided that interviews were more important than callers and he started to kiss athletes and coaches ass. Rome basically sold out, Tony never did. He only interviewed sports journalists and could rip any athlete or coach.

Layed in bed with my transitor radio hoping for good reception every Sun night. Not sure if I would like it today, but I loved it when I was a kid. Fell asleep every night listening to a ball game or sports talk. Yep, I was a real nerd back then!

Forgot about Pete Franklin on WWWE in Cleveland. He was truly ahead of his time.

Railbird - couldn't be more correct about ESPN Radio. The weekend show they have with Mel Kiper is good.

scott ferrell sucks - fingernails on the chalkboard of life annoying.

rail - i lost a TON of respect for you for thinking highly of hacksaw. that "best 15 minutes of radio" crap is so asinine NO ONE believes it - or gives any credence to it. he makes up 90% of his crap. he is a joke!

like leykis - i do miss bob kemp. hard to find someone smarter than him. wish he would come back.

my fave right now:

Tony Bruno: i DIE laughing listening to his show. as funny and entertaining as they come.

also like:

Loose Cannons, McDonnell Douglas and starting next week, "The Big Show" w/Mason and Ireland - all local So Cal shows.

also liked listening to jon chelesnik on espn radio on weekends. miss him and hope that when Bob Valvano's contract with espn expires later this year - chelesnik is brought back.

I like Jim Lampley when he is filling in for somebody. I could not stand Bobby Kemp but listen to him anyway back in the day. Other old school guys I liked were Steve Somers, Jim Healy, Coach and Conan, Lee Pete.

I am also a big fan of Dr.Laura Shesslinger. I love how she tells it like it is to folks.

thanks for bringing up "coach kentera" - solid guy and very informative. healy is a classic - MUST listen for L.A. drive time. as for lee pete - when you talk about las vegas radio - you can't talk about it w/o mentioning him. he RULED the airwaves for a long time. sadly - he and his wife are not doing too well, now. i believe she had both legs amputated around the knees area and i hear he rarely - if ever - leaves the house. this is beyond sad for lee pete is a legend - and that NO ONE who knows anything about las vegas radio can deny.

I like papa when he stays on topic...

a good thread would be who do you hate the most in sports talk radio - sorry to say that jim rome would be at the top, along with brando, dan patrick, and JB.

murray in the morning has his all time lows lately for being off topic - HORRIBLE

fishhead you must like the WEEI guys?

They mostly do a good job of staying on topic - especially if you are interested in sox or pats...

rome is solid for 30 min, maybe an hour at most
... the best thing he did was cut out most of
the callers, who for the large part are morons
... trying to fill 3 hrs sees him reading a lot
and repeating material.

Ferrall on the Bench was great. He was in the Bay Area for a while. He was pretty good w/ his college football plays.

Can't stand Rome. That guy is a wannabe comedian, ignorant dumb fuqk.

I have SIRIUS satellite radio, which sucks if you like Sporting News. Their hosts are much more cutting-edge than ESPN radio, but SIRIUS has three league packages, so what are you gonna do?

Kornheiser is my favorite. It's a shame he's leaving. Papa Joe and Tony Bruno are two of my other favorites, but it's rare to hear them around my neck of the woods.

Dan Patrick doesn't bother me much on the radio, even though he bugs the hell out of me on TV. Strange.
