im wondering what its like to visit and post here during football season. ive seen so much bitching and hatred here for the basketball...college mostly...that im thinking about bailing out till the fall.ive taken huge losses following the elite and cant afford more. i love coming here but the forum is flooded with guys killing each other. please tell me football season is different.and do others post 20 picks at a time as they do for basketball? very confusing. anyway i hope for a good response to this question id love to return here in august.~rg

Roxy, It is tough to contain egos on the internet. We do not want to ban people so we try and tolerate as much as possible. The truth is we are dealing with a crowd averaging mid 20,s and most likely alot of drug users and drinkers. Lots of immaturity along with the big ego factor creates some issues, but my best advice is to try and overlook what you do not like. The forums are here and full of info. One must try and find the good. I cannot promise a football season that will make you happy. I can say that we do not want to tolerate trash in the sports rooms. I hope to see you back posting often.

mid-20's? From what I saw at the Rx party, more like mid-40's. 99% white males.
I would think drinking and drug using are not the primary addictions of your average poster. More like gambling, fast-food and porn I would think.

General, did you guys ever do a demographic profile of the average Rx poster?

general do you really believe the average rxer is a mid 20s drinker who does drugs??i respect your opinion immensely hun but have you ever done drugs as a kid? i did and had friends who did as most of us did especially as a woman of the 80s but no one i knew or even myself would be able to get on a forum of any kind to slay everyone in it.thats what chat rooms are for.interesting analysis tho general.id love to read others opinions on this. i saw on the college threads today there was a complaint of too many posting GOYs and it was following a few of those that is chasing me away till the fall when football begins.many others see those picks and if they lose believing the unbelievable hype thats found here it only hurts the rx in the long run.ill be back from time to time to see how things go but im done following people who COULD be as you described earlier. theres some great cappers here and legends are diminished by the over abundance of abusive posters looking to stir up trouble. gl.~rg

RG, I sympathize with your falling for the hype of everybodys "GOY." One thing I am beginning to believe is that if you are following cappers on this board for picks without capping the games yourself you may be better off following one or two cappers you have come to trust and "flat unit bet" their picks (ie bet the same amount per game). That way, you are focused more on the skill of the capper and get influenced less by their egos and flaming wars.

roxygurl,

The NFL Forum isn't much better but in time, you get to know who not to read.

I know nothing about Basketball but if like me you want to win some cash this time of the year, all you have to do is follow the NBA picks of Hansen, OccamsRazor and make note of Maryland Bowlers posts. Forget the rest, dont even read, play level stakes with a few small parlays when the occasion arises.

I started Jan 10 just betting 30s and 50s and am up 660, not bad considering I didnt even know how many players there are on a team.

I now bet 55 a game, 110 if theres consensus, 33 double, 22 treble. Just sit back and enjoy.

Many thanks again to Hansen, Occams and Maryland

Hansen, no, my brother lived there once. Cold as hell, I don't know how you guys do it!

RG, are you aware that 5 Dimes posts lines on AFL2 games? Not that I am insinuating you have inside info or anything, but it sure would be beneficial to know if the star qb was out late the night before the game with his cheerleader girlfriend or something like that...

roxygurl:

As you know, we've talked just a bit in my threads. My brief experience with the RX has found that football season is a bit different than basketball because it is not everyday. Also, I've noticed that the college forums are different then the pro forums. The college forums seem to have more young people who may still be in college or just shortly removed from college and are very excited about their own school, conference, etc. With that comes a lot of trash talking which is the nature of today's times. Notice what goes on in the games themselves. In the pro forums, there seems to be a little older group to some extent. I've noticed currently that the NBA Forum is much more subdued then the College Forum. That's why I like to post over there sometimes just for a quiet change of atmosphere. All that being said, you still have to expect that there will be egos that show up in the forums. It takes a lot of time for players to except losing. Celebrating after a win is easy. Separating the men from the boys shows when one loses. Personally, I like the fact that you are posting here and hope that you will continue. There are a lot of good cappers here. Try not to read all the trash threads and zero in on the people and subjects that might interest you and you will truly feel your own personal tension level subside. I want to extend my best wishes to you in whatever you decide and if this oldman can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to ask.
