perhaps you should look up the definition of sport!

just because wrestling has muscle bound dudes jumping and flying all over the ring DOES NOT make it a sport.....YOU go look up the definition of a sport

its called WWE for a reason....its entertainment

Earl, I know wrestling is popular in Deland - about two years ago I went to a tax deed sale in Deland (Volusia County) - what a bunch of white trash - I did not see one normal functioning person

straight from wikipedia

Competitive eaters, sometimes known as "gurgitators", compete in more than 100 Major League Eating events annually worldwide that are governed by the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE). The IFOCE, which first established eating as a sport in the 1990s, has recently launched Major League Eating to serve as an umbrella for competitive eating worldwide while also providing a recognized brand for licensing of t-shirts and other products. The Major League Eating website, www.majorleagueeating.com, is considered the most dynamic website in this sport.

Well, in wrestling they have a referee who makes sure that the combatants (aka actors or play fighters) adhere strictly to the rules.

Pro Wrestling...It is staged, of course, but some of the moves are incredible. As for poker, good game, i don't play it at all, but it definitley takes skill. Hot Dog eating contest, a sport? Maybe for fat people.

poker is more like chess which isn't a sport. hot dog eating is fear factorish. It is a competition but not a sport. kind of like racing down to the end of the block, still not a sport though. Wresting is not a sport either but closer to it than the other two

Pro wrestling itself is a sport, the question is whether organisations like WWE are participating in a sport. Not all pro wrestling is fake, so since you didn't specify an organisation (ie WWE) then I will go with pro wrestling. If you went back and changed pro wrestling to WWE then I'd choose hotdog eating which is definitely a sport IMO. Poker is not a sport and neither is chess, at least until they change the definition of sport to include mental prowess and not just physical.

What grade are you in? They already know who is going to win the match BEFORE it even start's. I hope for your sake that you are trying to be funny.:smoker2:

Don't all sports include a "mental prowess"?:think2:

I really think if you voted that wrestling is a sport you have to be brain dead.

I really think you need to re-read the question...it appears the thread starter doesn't think any are real sports 'more of a sport' :ughhh:

I read the question - none of them are sports - but at least in poker or eating you are actually trying to win - you are competing - let's start a poll - what smells worse - dog shit, horse shit or gorilla shit.

I dont know. Because the hot dog eaters have to be in decent physical shape and put themselves through quite a bit to get ready for a competition.

Wrestlers do a lot of roids and rehersal.

Poker, its a game. Just not an athletic one.

I voted eating too - poker is the equivalent of chess - a mental game - in wrestling - no one is competing

J- I finally come up with a though provoking thread and you cant even call me out by name.

I dont think any of these are true sports. I could not see any of the three in the olympics. I think they all have qualifications of a sport but in my mind none of them fit the bill.
