Massey ratings used to Kill the bowls year after year. It would go something ridiculous like 15-4 thru 12/28 or 12/29. but from 12/29 or 12/30 on out it would lose.

Last year he changed the way he did his ratings. It didn't improve his Reg Sn record any. His bowl plays went in the crapper. They went 8-9 thru 12/28. Went 4-0 on 12/29 making it 12-9/
. then went 7-12 or 6-13 from 12/30 on out.

I thought the Massey Rating system said play on an underdog with the higher rated defense via Massey. My notes say to fade this system after christmas.

it was to play the better rated defense in every bowl game ATS and a bit on money line for underdogs

did very well LY but was also the first time i heard about it. something to add into your research but would not play blindly but i doubt you would ever get buried by constantly playing the team with the better defense
