Sorry. Bad judgment on my part. Moved this thread back to the Offshore Forum.

Bought 4 homes to house my wife's family overseas and have been providing $550 monthly assistance for over 20 years for food, clothing, education, etc. Just has to be done. Couldn't go to sleep knowing her family didn't have food, clothing or shelter.

Thanks for moving it back, that was mighty generous of you sir. Mind if I inquire to the nationality of your wife's family? Pretty cool that you are taking care of the fam man.

But tell the truth Ted, was it moved because I posted it? I thought I had been having rather well since my most recent banning.

I perform yard and handy man work for elderly veterans in my community. I have also delivered Christmas Trees to needy families during the Holiday Season as well.

Filipina!

She is everything to me. Over the course of being together, I have estimated that I have spent over $1 million caring for her family. She has 8 siblings who have over 20 offspring who have another 15 offspring. We are the sole providers for all. It's just the way it is. The country is very poor and it is extremely hard to get work particularly her siblings who are now is their 50's. Even the next generation, although now educated must leave the country to find work. I will never stop giving until my time on this earth is done.

Absolutely not. Had nothing to do with you. I just thought it was beginning to go downhill. I thought your question was very well meant. I wanted to reply but felt that answer would seem like I was boasting and nothing could be further from the truth. My wife's family is extremely grateful for all we have done and yet I have never met them. I've never left this country and don't travel much.

Problem is, people who do generous things for others are reluctant to talk about it. So I will point out one example where he no doubt would not.

Viejo Dinosaur is always helping out others. Just for the orphans he has done a ton! But he won´t say so in a thread like this.(<)<

you must be a very talented man to be able to do all that for them

as we say down here 'mis respetos' which I dont know how to translate ....should be something like 'I offer you my respect/admiration' ?

cheers (and I am heading to the fridge for another beer)

Not really wolfie. My parents scraped to provide me a good education (University of California at Berkeley - BS Mechanical Engineering). I was fortunate enough to be successful in my 28 year career. Saved and invested my money. Spent very little. Had no children but just always feel the need to provide for those less fortunate. I want for nothing but as the years mount, I live on less but give more. It is reward enough for me. I may pass on broke, but at least I know that I have made a difference in a lot of people's lives and their future. I know no other way.

Thats true to a degree about good samaritans not bragging about it, but the internet is a little different than the real world IMO. Most people dont go around telling everyone they are gambling addicts, they pee in sinks, and are cheating on their wife in the real world but they do here for some reason. If people post about all the bad, dirty, and stupid stuff they do in life then why not share something good you have done with the rest of the group.

I think he would(if he werent currently overtipping his thai massage therapist) but not for the reason of putting himself above others, but to inspire us to do more for the less fortunate(as he does every year) which is kinda the direction I was hoping this thread would take(despite its ate-up author and crackpot target audience).

my uncle was in Berkeley from 1979-1982 getting an MSc in Enviromental Eng.

He died young.....I always regretted not knowing him better...he died just when I was turning 18 (and he was away in Brazil getting a pHD and he was due to return as a professor to the Eng faculty down here when I was a freshman in Chem Eng)

I guess you and him had beers in the same pubs ;)

Unfortunately we were there at different times. I graduated in 1970. Sorry to hear he passed so young.

Took a guy off my windshield after I hit him with my car and put him by the side of the road. I took all the money from his wallet, but left him a 20 for cab fare.
