Cowherd has mastered his delivery and teases... I respect him for that... but the guy has to be the LEAST knowledgable ESPN guy... I can barely listen to his show..... he is probably a better entertainer than he is for information

Cowherd used to broadcast from Vegas, and he sure seems to know his way around the gambling world and making good picks.

Kemp

Bob Kemp was the best hands down, but no longer on the air.

Bob Kemp has a local mid-day show here in Phx. He has for a few years now.

To be honest, I think his show is boring as hell. The guy has the most monotone voice Ive ever heard. And it sounds like he is just reading from a script the whole time.

Horrible IMO.

Mike and Mike are a bunch of company blowhards. Fat Mike never has an opinion for himself, just confirms whatever the hell Nerd Mike is saying. He doesn't have any additional knowledge that your casual sports fan would know. Ask him NBA, NHL, or MLB and he's clueless.

Plus, Nerd Mike has the personality that if he had the opportunity to backstab you to benefit him, he'd do it. Just a big douchebag in general.

Steve Czaben. Can't believe Fox ditched him for Steven A Smith. Almost cancelled my XM radio subscription because of that weak move. Czabe is now on sportingnewsradio. can catch his show via internet and maybe locally (DC?)

I couldn't stand him at one point, but after you learn everything about the show you realize this guy is light years ahead of everyone else when it comes to sports-talk.

His show is kind of like the sitcom Seinfeld used to be.

You're either witty enough to catch everything & get it, or you're not...

Used to be an avid listener. Liked his shtick. Its run its course though. And I dont know if Im "witty" enough for the show. But I get it. Its just tired and old after listening on and off for 10yrs.

Still tune in from time to time. Good for a great laugh now and then.

I Like.... "papa Joe Chevalier" K.l.a.v. 1230 Am Las Vegas, Nevada:103631605

He was the best I ever heard! He was on one-on-one sports in New York about 10 years ago and I really miss his
show, glad he's still around I'll try to find K.l.a.v. 1230 Am Las Vegas on the net, thanx for the tip.

In NY Mike is without Maddog for a few years he's mediocre, Coward maybe slightly more interesting

I like the junkies....

The Sports Junkies

The Sports Junkies, also known as The Junkies, are the hosts of an eponymous morning drive time radio show aired in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. The hosts are John Auville, Eric Bickel, Jason Bishop, and John-Paul Flaim. Their show is heard on WJFK, 106.7.[1] Their show focuses on a mix of discussions about sports, women, popular culture, and the day-to-day lives of the Junkies.

The show debuted at #100 in the 2008 edition of Talkers Magazine Heavy 100, moved up to #84 in the 2009 edition[2] and #75 in the 2010 edition. It fell to #88 in the 2011 edition and were not mentioned in the 2012 Heavy Talkers Top 250 List.[3]

On-air hosts
John Martin “Cakes” Auville
Eric Carlton “E.B.” Bickel
Jason William “Lurch Poppa” Bishop
John-Paul “J.P.” Flaim

John Martin “Cakes” Auville
Known as “Cakes,” Auville, (has also been credited as "Martin Auville") was born in 1970.[4] He was raised in Bowie, Maryland alongside fellow Junkies Eric Bickel and John-Paul Flaim, and attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. After high school, Auville studied communications at Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland, about which he is occasionally ridiculed for achieving a 1.5 grade point average (GPA) one semester;[4] he then managed a local Toys Я Us store until making radio his full-time occupation in 1996.[5] Auville's family currently lives in Olney, Maryland. He married his wife, Amy, in 1995. They have three children, Kurt Joseph (1997), Juliet (2002), and Brendan Craig (2004). After the birth of their third child, Auville had a vasectomy and has since been mocked with the name “Johnny Blanks.”[5]

Eric Carlton “E.B.” Bickel
Bickel aka "Gray Haired Monster" was born in 1970 and grew up in Bowie, Maryland where he grew up across the street from fellow Junkie John-Paul Flaim and in the same neighborhood as John Auville. Bickel attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he befriended soon-to-be-Junkie Jason Bishop. He lettered in tennis. After high school, Bickel attended the University of Maryland, where he majored in psychology, worked as a study hall monitor, and received his master’s degree in school counseling before becoming a "Junkie" in 1997. Bickel married his wife, Dina, in 1996. They have three children, Stephen (2000), Megan (2002) and Katherine (2009).[4]

Jason William “Lurch Poppa” Bishop
Nicknamed "Lurch" because of his 6'6" height (a reference to The Addams Family butler on the television show), Bishop grew up in Lanham, Maryland and befriended fellow Junkie Eric Bickel while attending DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he played basketball for legendary coach Morgan Wooten. Bishop received a scholarship[6] to play basketball at the University of Richmond, then eventually transferred to Salisbury State University to pursue a degree in communications.[5] He currently lives in Ashburn, Virginia, with his wife, Theresa, and their two daughters Madden and Ava. Jason has a second home in Ocean City, MD where he enjoys body surfing, watching Red Sox highlights, and angling.

John-Paul “J.P.” Flaim
“J.P.” Flaim was born in 1970 and grew up across the street from fellow Junkie Eric Bickel in Bowie, Maryland. Flaim attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, and then went on to major in international business at the University of Maryland, College Park before studying law at the Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[4] In 1997, he failed the Maryland bar exam, reading his results publicly while on the air; however, he passed the exam the following year and can now legally practice law in Maryland.[5]

Flaim has also fought as a professional middleweight boxer. His record is 0-1, having lost his December 9, 2006 debut fight to Jay Watts by TKO in the first round, just days after the death of Flaim's father-in-law.[7] In 2007, he was ranked 991st out of the top 999 boxers in the light middleweight division.[8]

Flaim and his ex-wife Carol, have two children together, a daughter Kelsie (2000),[4] and a son, Dylan Carlos (2007).[citation needed]

On February 3, 2010, Flaim announced that he and Carol would divorce.[citation needed] On August 24, 2012, he married Jessica "Jess" Boughers,[9] a professional fitness model[10] and former Hooters girl,[11] and a former Arena Football[11] and Washington Redskins cheerleader.[10]

Not to mention running a 1 man show for 3 hours is tougher than having multiple people to run a show to bounce things off of and have them save you when you get stuck.

About 10-12 years ago, Duemig and Brantley had their own show on a small station, 910 I believe. It was horrible. TJ Rives had a good show across the bay on another station, but that station switched formats. Soon after, Brantley got the gate and Duemig was the last man standing on the Tampa drivetime sports scene.

RIP Steve

Tampa Bay’s Sports Radio WDAE is mourning the loss today of WDAE sports radio icon Steve “The Big Dog” Duemig who passed away this morning. Duemig was a Tampa Bay radio staple for nearly three decades at WFNS from 1991-1996, and began his career with WDAE in 1996 through his final show in February of 2018. Steve also served time as the Tampa Bay Lightning’s color analyst for two seasons, hosted a weekly call-in program on nationally-syndicated Fox Sports Radio and also co-hosted a program on The Golf Channel. Before his time in radio, Steve spent 13 years as a professional golfer with the PGA of America.

WDAE and iHeartMedia Tampa Bay would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of “The Big Dog” Steve Duemig.
