No special event. Those were the days I was fascinated by the internet and loved sports betting.. This website showed up quickly in the early days of both. Looking back I followed the Jay Cohen event and his legal battle with where the betting took place..Wasn't a bonus whore just liked the information.

I graduated high school in 2000 and had a bunch of buddies become Marines. Then, 9.11 happened and they ended up being some of the first boots on the ground. Fast forward to 2004 or 2005, a half dozen of us drove from Colorado to Vegas to meet 4 dudes who drove over from Pendleton/San Diego for March Madness. I ended up making a few thousand on beginner's luck at a few books and blackjack tables. One of the Marines who happened to be a good buddy growing up told me the best way to beat the books was to find a good fade - talked all about the anti-public strategy. Told me they could be found here and other sites.

At the time, I was a heavy drinker and made good money for not having a family and having a small mortgage. I burned through thousands at various offshore books in my 20s late nights trying to chase losses. But honestly, gambling and these forums have taught me a lot about a whole bunch of topics and that there is no such thing as get rich quick.

Nice story, and many of us have similar experiences. I used to think I could supplement my income, I made every mistake a degenerate can make. I used to make a lot less than I do now but I wagered a lot more, go figure.

I wager for fun now, win some and lose some. I never chase, maybe the worst thing a gambler can do is chase. Tomorrow's another day, or maybe next week or next month. I never lose sleep over a bet, and it certainly doesn't consume me like it did some 30 years ago.

For me sports talk radio and a pompus A-hole , who called himself
Sebastian.

After brief streaks, he went tout, of course !

You can't beat sports betting because you can't have dozens of accounts, nor can you move money.

I'd never touch that newfangled Bitcoin worthless crapola, it's nothing !, Fascinating how nothing became so valuable, perhaps our local CT account could explain that to me ?

Was laid off from an investment banking gig here in San Francisco back in 2002. It was right towards the end of the tech bust. I was given 6 months severance as part of the goodbye . I was single and had a lot of time on my hands. was playing alot of parlay cards from the office and kept in touch with some of the guys after we were all let go.

One of em told me about this site and how you make more money betting on games straight up. LOL. That's how I found this wierld extended family of mine. LOL

Great question Willie!

Back in the spring of 2003 I started getting interested in Texas Hold 'Em so I started reading some of the Internet newsgroups. From reading those I heard about online gambling. I made a post in one of the newsgroups about gambling on sports since I had done that back in the 80's. A troll responded to my post blasting what I said.

Someone felt sorry for me and said people here on TheRX would treat me better so I came here and registered. What a trip it has been the last 16 years.

From there forums like RX naturally followed.
My first book was Bowman's like 20 years ago.
I used to deposit by mailing a money order to the UK before neteller existed.

Bonuses were what made this profitable, I could do a 10 X rollover ( or lose it), in a single day with free half points, low vig, planetpinnacle, matchbook, neteller, the only risk was getting paid !

I tried to lose at the bonus book and just re-deposit for another bonus after Matchbook paid me, had dozens of accounts...

Great question, but I really forgot how I got here, but I do know why I stayed! Great diversity in

people, points of views, and ubiquitous calamity and shenanigans! In addition, this great site is a bunch of fun! cheersgifcheersgifcheersgif

I think my first offshore accounts were with Betonsports and Youwager, until I came here

Then I went to places like TheGreek and Skybook. I remember one startup book about ten or so years ago, SexyWagers. I think they may have sponsored a bash or something. Anyhow, they were a lucky book for me and they paid promptly, but they were very short lived.

I became a 5dimes guy, had a great run in baseball for about 6 weeks and cashed out for nearly 20k, about half of that payout was with in house sportsbook transfers with forum members

Shortly after that, they said I could only reup with money transfers, no more credit card transactions despite the fact they never had any issue with me. Never gave me an explanation, just treated me like an asshole. So I left them too

People want to get info on why the line dropped on the Saints game and 2 posts down see which Super Bowl winning NFL QB is actually a woman.

Don't forget lines on junior high women's basketball in China. It's a real advantage knowing which teams have the most little boys playing for them
