Agree with the xray...it's possible you could have avulsed a small piece of your fibula.
Remember the pneumonic: RICE - Rest, Ice Q 2 hr X 20 min, Compression with an ace wrap, Elevation above your heart.
Also take your advil or aleve with food for inflammation.
Assuming it's one of the three ligaments that stabalize the lateral ankle, allow it adquate time to heal before resuming strenuous activity.
Physical therapy may be helpful, as well...
