Song title-Heaven’s Here On Earth
Album-New Beginning

You can look to the stars in search of the answers
Look for God and life on distant planets
Have your faith in the ever after
While each of us holds inside the map to the labyrinth
And heaven's here on earth

We are the spirit the collective conscience
We create the pain and the suffering and the beauty in this world

Heaven's here on earth
In our faith in humankind
In our respect for what is earthly
In our unfaltering belief in peace and love and understanding

I've seen and met angels wearing the disguise
Of ordinary people leading ordinary lives
Filled with love, compassion, forgiveness and sacrifice

Heaven's in our hearts
In our faith in humankind
In our respect for what is earthly
In our unfaltering belief in peace and love and understanding

Look around
Believe in what you see
The kingdom is at hand
The promised land is at your feet
We can and will become what we aspire to be

If Heaven's here on earth
If we have faith in humankind
And respect for what is earthly
And an unfaltering belief that truth is divinity
And heaven's here on earth

I've seen spirits
I've met angels
I've touched creations beautiful and wondrous
I've been places where I question all I think I know
But I believe, I believe, I believe this could be heaven
We are born inside the gates with the power to create life
And to take it away
The world is our temple
The world is our church
Heaven's here on earth

If we have faith in human kind
And respect for what is earthly
And an unfaltering belief
In peace and love and understanding
This could be heaven here on earth
Heaven's in our heart

Bible keeps you from sin, sin keeps you from the Bible.

J- Jesus
O- Others
Y- You

that is the correct chronological order, not YO, but JOY. I find the less selfish I am the more joy it brings me. The times in my life when I care about me,myself, and I, it brings on misery.

i am the most believer agnostic.

I like a lot of notions of christianity, jesus et. al, i also dispise plenty.

I ve read the bible, and found the new testament full of insights and treasures.

I have a strong distate for evangelists, religious zealots, and other "godly" phanatics that litter this earth and with no expections repeatedly fvck this world over, with their inhumaness, blindness and greed.

i also believe in such things as compassion, mercy, honour, sacrifice.

I am against any attempt to intellectualize the metaphysical. i feel very humble towards life and death.

Bean Town.

God IS on your side, Maybe he's letting you have a bad run losing the 4-5K so that you dont get too caught up and in the long run lose 50K. Think about it. Maybe the money you're wagering with should go to home and family bills and maintenance, hhhmm.

Well like I said before this thread rocks,
may thoughts is this, what about the "fake" religions out there who have "innocent" people caught up in their "fake" teachings, is GOd going to punish them for that??
With soooo many religions out there, how do we know which one(s) are the correct one(s) what happens to those people who think they're with the right Church from they are young.

There is something much more powerful than we could ever imagine, now I want you guys to think just for a second, NO WAY CAN THE EVOLUTION THEORY BE RIGHT.
Have you guys ever watched the discovery channel and see how amazing the various creatures on earth are?? how the different animals behave and function, just look at our own bodies how everything works and function, UNBELIEVEABLE.
Not by a big bang, no way.

Now I would like to have some comments about THIS thought, A few years ago I was in the caribbean island of Grenada, I was touring the island and outside of a restaurant there was a cage and a small monkey was inside, I went to the cage and was for the first time got a close look of these animals, I saw its fingers and it shocked the hell out of me, If you told me that was not a human hand I woulda smack you, I believe we;re some kinda of relative to the apes, oh why do we have this mini tail on our asses.

Spive, the Tracy Chapman song is exactly right on. God is a bad word for God. Atleast for me, because you and I found a point of contention in a way based on a discussion involving God that in reality is pointless because (if I am taking this correctly) for you to post Tracy's song, I assume you agree with her words and... so do I. God is discovered in the heart. From there it can be further discovered that God is everywhere in everything and everything makes up God. God (bad word) is for me, Love, Truth, Constructiveness, Light (wisdom). Earlier in my life I believed in God. But I never integrated God as fully as I have done today. One day I crossed a line and I no longer believed in God... I knew God was there and a part of my life. I knew it intimately. I no longer needed to believe. I knew and once I started to discover what God is about, I replaced all belief with faith. For me, belief can be in degrees. faith is 100% belief.

Anyway, I can prove God exists. Is anyone familiar with the lottery? Well, if so, then you know the odds of winning. I have always recommended one approach to playing the lottery. Buy one ticket and only one ticket. Why? Because the only way you can win the lottery... is if God wants you to. (And just another small thought... if you don't buy one ticket, then even if God wants you to win, you can't). So we have two lessons. Lesson 1 is that there must be God because I have known someone who has won the lottery. Lesson 2, I don't want to be someone who failed to buy a ticket.

Merlyn.

By the way... Spive, I went to American schools and I was taught the same history, but I discovered that what I was taught was not true. For example, this flat world thing was only bought by a handful of ignorant europeans (white guys) from which the accepeted world history was also created by. There were a few europeans (white guys actually) who were the wealthy movers and shakers that knew the truth and even had maps of the various parts of the earth like Antartica and the Americas way before Cristopher Colon (who you know as Columbus). But that information has been surpressed. Why? Because if a few can get the masses to believe lies then they are more easily able to control them. Let me ask you this... do you naturally go out and look for wars to start everyday? I doubt so. But yet we constantly are fighting wars, maybe not you personally, but people just like you. Why? Because they have been manipulated into believing in a right and a wrong (from their point of view as if they ARE God). Wake up, see the light, open your mind to the possibility that the masses have been and are currently fooled and you will find living God within you. You will also receive authentic power. power that never needs to put anyone down. Power that never needs or cares to force anyone to do anything. I would never have believed any of this when I was young, but I made a bet based on which offers the best prospects. And I won my bet and the payoff is indescribable. I knew many others who made the same bet.

One note of warning for those who know the truth but have chosen to be a supporter of the facade. You can't run and you can't hide... it will all unravel for you from the inside. The more you fight the worse it gets. Just like heaven exists in the here and now for those who have done their homework, so does hell for those who stubbornly remanin in denial.

By the way, I am no religion. I actually believe that religion is the strongest and saddest form of mind control on earth today.

Another thing, I cannot define God for anyone. I can share my experience with God and maybe it works for others (at that moment in time) or maybe it doesn't. It really doesn't matter much to me anymore because I already know and I also sense that it is only a matter of time that we all know. Can't stop evolution and that goes for evolution of consciousness as well.

For those who believe in destruction, your days are numbered. Why? Because once destruction destroys everything, destruction dies because it has nothing left to destroy. Whereas construction implies eternity as we can always build on something that exists and we have plenty of time and plenty of space to do so. We can even learn the tricks of creation and craete our own realities. If I did that, I would make sure all was perfect but that each individual existance had its own mind to realize it or not and that each would have the core of their individuality immortal and they would have limitless space and time to do it in - eternity. Can anyone top that idea? If so, please elaborate.

Here, then, are some reasons supporting God's existence:

1. Throughout history, in all cultures of the world, people have been convinced there is a God. Could one say with any sense of confidence that all those people have been mistaken? Billions of people, who represent diverse sociological, intellectual, emotional, educational makeups . . . all came to the same conclusion that there is a Creator, a God to be worshipped.

"Anthropological research has indicated that among the farthest and most remote primitive people today, there is a universal belief in God. And in the earliest histories and legends of people all around the world, the original concept was of one God, who was the Creator. An original high God seems once to have been in their consciousness even in those societies which are today polytheistic."(3)

2. The complexity of our universe, our solar system and our planet Earth all point to a knowing, deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today. Pages and pages of examples showing God's design could be given here, possibly with no end. But here are a few:

The Earth . . . its size is perfect. The Earth's size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases over the surface of the earth. Only extending about 50 miles above the Earth's surface, our atmosphere contains the right mixture of gases to sustain life. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter.(4) Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere appropriate for plant, animal and human life.

The Earth is located exactly the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the earth's position to the sun and life on Earth would be impossible. The Earth remains at its perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. And the Earth's rotation on its axis allows the entire surface of the earth to be properly warmed and cooled every day.

Our moon is the right size and distance from the Earth. The moon creates important ocean tides and movement so ocean water does not stagnate, and yet it restrains our massive oceans from spilling over across the continents.(5)

Water . . . colorless, odorless and without taste, and yet no living thing can survive without it. Water has not been found on any other planet, yet covers more than 70 percent of our earth's surface. Plants, animals and human beings consist mostly of water . . . about two-thirds of the human body is water. The characteristics of water are uniquely suited to life:

It has an unusually high boiling point and freezing point, allowing us to live in an environment of constant temperature changes, keeping our bodies a steady 98.6 degrees.

Water is a universal solvent. Take a full glass of water, add a cup of sugar, and nothing spills over the edge; the water simply absorbs the sugar. This property of water allows it to carry thousands of chemicals, minerals and nutrients throughout our bodies and into the smallest blood vessels.(6)

Water is also chemically inert, not affecting the makeup of the substances it carries. Food, medicines and minerals are all absorbed and used by the body, while water remains as a neutral carrying agent.

Water has a unique surface tension. This, combined with another property of water, allows water in plants to flow upward against gravity, bringing life-giving water and nutrients to the top of even the tallest trees.

Water freezes from the top down and floats, allowing fish to live in the winter.

Ninety-seven percent of the Earth's water is in the oceans. But on our Earth, there is a system designed which removes salt from the water and then distributes that water throughout the globe. Evaporation takes the ocean waters, leaving the salt, and forms clouds which are easily moved by the wind to disperse water over the land, for vegetation, animals and people. It is a system of purification and supply that has sustained life on this planet, a system of recycled and reused water.(7)

The human brain . . . simultaneously processes an amazing amount of information. Your brain takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, even the texture of this article in your hand. In addition to all the sensory information, your brain recognizes emotional responses, ideas and memories. Your brain also keeps track of the ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, hunger and movement of the muscles in your hands.

The human brain processes more than a million messages a second.(8) Fortunately, your brain weighs the importance of all this data, filtering out the relatively unimportant. This screening function of the brain is what allows you to focus and operate effectively in your world. A brain that deals with more than a million pieces of information every second, while evaluating its importance and allowing you to act on the most pertinent information . . . can we say mere chance assembled such an astounding organ?

When NASA launches a shuttle mission, it is assumed a monkey didn't write the plan, but intelligent and knowledgeable minds. How does one explain the existence of the human brain? Only a mind more intelligent and knowledgeable than humanity could create a human brain.

3. The improbability of mere "chance" being the explanation for life's characteristics. Could one look at Mount Rushmore in which the likenesses of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt are carved, and ever believe that it came about by chance? Given infinite time, wind, rain and chance, it is still hard to believe something like that, tied to history, was randomly formed in the side of a mountain. Common sense leads us to conclude that people planned and skillfully carved those figures.

This article only touches on a few necessary intricacies of our world: the Earth's position to the sun, some properties of water, one organ in the human body. Could any of these have come about by chance?

The distinguished astronomer Sir Frederick Hoyle showed how even the amino acids randomly coming together in a human cell is mathematically absurd. Regarding our lives, Sir Hoyle illustrated the weakness of "chance" with the following analogy. "What are the chances that a tornado might blow through a junkyard containing all the parts of a 747, accidentally assemble them into a plane, and leave it ready for take-off? The possibilities are so small as to be negligible even if a tornado were to blow through enough junkyards to fill the whole universe!"(9)

In all of life we see a reasonable law of cause and effect. Every effect had a cause. When one considers the intricacies of our life and universe, it is reasonable to think that an intelligent, loving Creator provided for everything we need for life. The Bible describes God as the author and sustainer of life.

4. Humankind's inherent sense of right and wrong cannot be biologically explained. Even a thief gets upset and feels wronged when someone steals from him. There arises in all of us, of any culture, universal feelings of right and wrong. If someone violently grabs a child from a family and rapes that child, there is an anger and revulsion and a rage to confront that act as evil, regardless of the culture. Where did we get this sense of wrongness?

And in areas like courage, dying for a cause, love, dignity, duty and compassion, where did these come from? If people are merely products of physical evolution, material and biological substances, why do we have a sense of rightness? How do we explain a universal law in the conscience of all people that says murder for fun is wrong? Do not all people sense that a humble spirit and a focus on meeting the needs of others are admirable qualities? Our conscience can best be explained by a loving Creator who cares about the decisions and harmony of humanity.

5. God has not only revealed Himself in what can be observed in the universe, in nature, in human life, but He has even more specifically shown Himself in the Bible. God's thoughts, personality, and attitudes can only be known if God chooses to reveal them. All else would be human speculation. We are at a loss if God does not wish to be known. But God wants us to know Him and has told us in the Bible all we need to know about His character and how to relate to Him. This makes the reliability of the Bible an important consideration.

Archaeological findings continue to confirm the accuracy of the Bible, rather than refute it. For example, an archeological find in northern Israel in August 1993 confirmed the existence of King David, author of many of the Psalms in the Bible.(10) The Dead Sea Scrolls and other archaeological discoveries continue to substantiate the historical accuracy of the Bible.

The Bible was written over a 1500-year time span, by 40 different authors, in different locations and on separate continents, written in three different languages, covering diverse subject matters at different points in history.(11) Yet there is an astounding consistency in its message. Throughout the entire Bible the same message appears:

God created the world we live in, and created us specifically to
have a relationship with Him.
He deeply loves us.
He is holy and therefore cannot be in relationship with sinful people.
But God provided a way for our sins to be forgiven.
He asks us to receive His forgiveness and have a relationship withHim that will last eternally.

Along with this central script, the Bible specifically reveals God's character to us. Psalm 145 is a typical summary of God's personality, thoughts and feelings toward us. If you want to know God, here He is.

6. Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God. Why Jesus? Look throughout the major world religions and you'll find that Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and Moses all identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. Surprisingly, Jesus did. That is what sets Jesus apart from all the others. He said God exists and you're looking at Him. Though He talked about His Father in heaven, it was not from the position of separation, but of very close union, unique to all humankind. Jesus said that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father, anyone who believed in Him, believed in the Father.

He said, "I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."(12) He claimed attributes belonging only to God: to be able to forgive people of their sin, free them from habits of sin, give people a more abundant life and give them eternal life in heaven. Here's the kicker. Unlike other teachers who focused people on their words, Jesus pointed people to himself. He did not say, "follow my words and you will find truth." He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me."(13)

What proof did Jesus give for claiming to be divine? He did what people can't do. Jesus performed miracles. He healed people: blind, crippled, deaf, even raised a couple of people from the dead. He had power over objects: on at least a couple of occasions, he created food out of thin air, enough to feed crowds of several thousand people. He performed miracles over nature: walked on top of a lake, instantly stopped a raging storm for some friends. People everywhere followed Jesus, because He constantly met their needs, doing the miraculous. He said if you do not want to believe what I'm telling you, you should at least believe in me based on the miracles you're seeing.(14)

What did Jesus reveal about God's personality? What about God's thoughts, expectations and His feelings toward humankind? Jesus Christ showed God to be gentle, loving, aware of our self-centeredness and shortcomings, yet deeply wanting a relationship with us. Jesus revealed that although God views us as sinners, worthy of His punishment, His love for us ruled and God came up with a different plan. God would have His Son receive the punishment for our sin. And Jesus willingly accepted this plan.

Jesus was tortured with a whip of nine sharp-tipped ends. A "crown" of two-inch thorns was pressed into his head. Then they secured Him to a cross by pounding nails through His hands and feet into the wood. Given His other miracles, those nails didn't keep Him on the cross; His love for us did. Jesus died in our place so we could be forgiven. Of all the religions known to humanity, only through Jesus will you see God reaching toward humanity, providing a way for us to have a relationship with Him. Jesus proves a divine heart of love, meeting our needs, drawing us to Himself. Because of Jesus' death we can be forgiven, fully accepted by God and genuinely loved by God. God says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."(15) This is God, in action.

The most conclusive proof that Jesus is equal to God was Jesus' most closely scrutinized miracle--His own resurrection from the dead. Jesus said that three days after His burial He would come back to life. On the third day after His crucifixion, the almost two-ton boulder in front of His tomb was catapulted up a slope.(16) The guard of well-trained Roman soldiers saw a blinding light and an angel. Except for the burial clothes that had been wrapped around Jesus' body, the tomb was empty. Over the years, legal, historical and logical analysis has been applied to Jesus' resurrection and the most feasible conclusion still is that Jesus rose from the dead.

If you want to know if God exists, investigate Jesus Christ. We're told that "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."(17)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you want to begin a relationship with God and actually know you are accepted by Him? This is your decision, no coercion here. But if you want to be forgiven by God and come into a relationship with Him, you can do so right now by asking Him to forgive you and come into your life. Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock. He who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him [or her]."(18) If you want to do this, but aren't sure how to put it into words, this may help: "Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. You know my life and that I need to be forgiven. I ask you to forgive me right now and come into my life. Thank you that you want a relationship with me. Amen."

God views your relationship with Him as permanent. Referring to all those who believe in Him, Jesus Christ said of us, " . . . I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand."(19)

OK, so let's add up the score...

No God. 1 If you read these threads, there is only one person who outright denies the existence or that he believes in God and that is Lander. I like Lander becaus ehe speaks his truth directly.

Can't tell for sure but if being cute counts for No God, then here's the border line guys...
12

So add 1 to 12 (give no god the benefit of the doubt by throwing in the border line caes) and we have a wonderful number... 13

And for those who directly say, for each of them, the answer is Yes, there is God we have...
17

I bet the favorite, laid a field goal and parlayed it with the under...

Winner!!!

I'm happy that you likely me, but I didn't actually "outright deny" the existance of God ... I said the existance or non-existance of God is unknown. Faith is wonderful, but without evidence it is merely opinion (which is respectable).

I don't know if God exists ... I don't think so .. but I really have no idea.

Sorry Lander but I took this post to imply that you were an atheist...

"Sorry to break up the Alter-boy convention ...
... but I don't actually believe.

I just don't see anything to believe in.

BUT I hope I'm wrong (unless, of course, that God sends all the aethists to a buring enternity of hell)"

and I cued on the idea that you were an atheist whn you actually are now sounding like an agnostic. Please forgive.

Another thing, I believe in God, the God that is everything, lives in everyone and everything... I do not see anything in creation more important (nor ANYONE more important past present or future) than anyone or anything else. all is part of God and God is in all. I would never buy anyone or anything died for my sins. The idea of sin is sin. Sin means without. You are cleansed of any past act once you learn the lesson. Its all done internally. The idea that someone else was responsible for me and that i didn't have to learn anything for myself is ludicrous. It is my opinion that the Christian religion is one of the sickest mind control inventions ever created. So are all the rest of religions. Do I have a problem if that's what someone wants to believe? No. Do I believe they have avoided responsibility for themselves? Yes. Just my opinion. Merlyn

I'm not ruling out the possibility thus not "outright denying".

I wouldn't deny anything until there was evidence supporting such denial.

Small point, but it's actually a big difference.

Agreed and good point. But let me ask you this... If a person has his own proof for himself, isn't that all that person needs? If the answer is yes, then the answer is also that there is God... at least for that person there is God.

For me, there definitely is. And I have all the proof I need. One warning, spiritual awakening is not easy. The truths about the lies we have been led to believe can take one perilously close to giving up... but if you awaken and weather the storm of hopelessness... you have ascended.

Unless you have evidence then you do not have proof. Holding something to be true without evidence is faith. And faith, my friend, is what you have. Faith is a virtue, I'm not sure I am even capable of such .. but many are.
Thousands of years of brilliant debate from Philosophers and Theologians have yet to offer conclusive evidence either way.

I guess this would be more of an indication of your "level of faith" than "proof".

Again, nothing wrong with that. In fact, I plan to raise my child to be a participating Christian if for nothing else - he will learn the power of love & become a better human being for such.

Lander... what I judge is proof you might not judge is proof. How can something that comes from an unquantifiable realm be proven in a world of limits and measurement. I have faith but that is not the same as knowing. I also KNOW. What's so cool about it is that the day you cross theat invisible line and you say, "Ya know what? I know also," then you'll understand. I waited long enough, probably went through several lifetimes looking for 'proof' but I can assure you one thing, I won't be back to earth school looking for education. I've graduated. Not only that but I'm in retirement as well and am enjoying the rest of this earthlife... And believe me I have had my share of tragedies all which steered me closer to my truth. I do need science... i was blinded too long by science. If you need it, have fun. I took a short cut. If you want me to share a few hundred true events that were my proof that life itself is alive and that theer is definitely more than can be simply proved, I will be glad to call you all the way from the caribbean on my dime and share some stories... Cheers Merlyn

If proof/evidence does not exist then there is nothing supporting the claim as factual. Since there is no proof then the existence of God is neither true or false at this point. It is simply unknown.

"I have faith but that is not the same as knowing. I also KNOW."
You do not know. Knowing involves logical proof of your arguments - and none exist. That's not to say that God doesn't exist, but clearly you cannot know something that has not been proven. I've had this same discussion several times. You "hold the existance of God to be true", however your opinion, regardless of strength or hope cannot be willed as fact.

"What's so cool about it is that the day you cross theat invisible line and you say, "Ya know what? I know also," then you'll understand. I hope I find that day where I can say "I KNOW God exists" because then my life will be void of uncertainty and lived in truth, however I feel that faith is a coping mechanism to convince ourselves that our lives have meaning and do not end on Earth. It's human nature to point to this "we're special" theory as explanation. "We're special" - we go to heaven
"We're special" - our souls are eternal; "We're special" - our lives serve purpose.

"If you want me to share a few hundred true events that were my proof that life itself is alive and that theer is definitely more than can be simply proved, I will be glad to call you all the way from the caribbean on my dime and share some stories... Cheers Merlyn"

Merlyn, you seem like a pretty decent feller and I mean no disrespect, but I'm not looking to be saved. I only look for truth in life, otherwise it lacks meaning. It seems impossible that the non-existance of God is capable of being proved to be true, so there is only one side to hope for ... and I do - I do hope that my thinking is wrong and that God exists.
Regards.

No one can say for certain that there is a God,but if there is one,I think we can all agree he is a Steeler fan.
