NBA was a much harder and better league on Jordan's era, winning a championship back then was harder in any division... Today's league is one of the worst times in league history quality wise yet the product survives cause the brand is already too huge to fall and raising demographics just like gravity pull everything up or down.

The Eastern Conference in Jordan's era after Detroits run ended was just as shitty as it is today not counting Chicago.

And the western conference back then was not as good as it is now.

Maybe the resident NBA expert (Patsfan) will back me on this or call me an idiot . I don't know but that's the way this non expert NBA observer remembers it.

1991 to 1998 is a long time. The 2nd half of that the entire NBA in general was pretty watered down because expansion and a lot of the legends were getting old and international player explosion hadn't quite hit the league yet. The East is pretty awful now though. Besides LeBron-teams all the good teams are in the West, MJ era atleast some of the east teams could be considered top tier teams so not quite as bad.

The West was better than the East then though. Has been for like 25 years, they should probably try realignment or something but because of the way the TV schedule is setup it just isn't gonna happen. Want 1 game on at a time and those late west coast games all by themselves.

The West was actually absolutely terrible in the 80s but you aren't gonna hear anyone dock Magic for that.

When people get off their personal hatred for Lebron, when it comes down to basketball, it's hard to find anyone in the history of the game better than him all around. The reason I would pick MJ over Lebron is because when you needed a bucket or someone to step up to make a big play at the right time, MJ was the guy. He was a pure competitor and absolutely clutch. He still missed game winning shots, but throughout the course of the game he almost always stepped up to the plate. Otherwise, it's hard to put anyone over the Lebron. MJ was a hell of a defender but no one has ever been able to guard all 5 spots like Lebron can. He can shut down almost anyone on the court and there isn't a player that can stop him one on one. He's amazing with the ball, great basketball knowledge, his only knock is when it comes down to the time you need to be great, he's more times a bust than great. He's getting much better than his early days though.

But anyone willing to say Lebron is not that good is just someone that is trolling or doesn't understand basketball. Lebron is the best player you'll probably see in your lifetime.

I'll admit I shouldn't say "better", was thinking more on the lines of better compared to the competition. I think players overall will continue to get bigger and more athletic. So there will probably be a better player than Lebron but the league probably will have better players all around. So I'll admit I was wrong about that comment pats.

Dude travels and commits offensive fouls on 50% of his plays. Greatness. Never shot over 80% from the stripe.

we re on the same page..physically, lbj has the biggest advantage since shaq...he is quicker than anyone who guards him, and stronger as well...to recap, he can around u or through you..its like playing against your little brother...u cant touch him, the guy is very good, but he has fallen apart in the clutch enough for me..5 finals, 2 wins..thats not great right?

how would lebron have done facing the hawks, the knicks, then the pistons in the conference finals? people under estimate, the fucking beating that jordan took...kobe never took it, and lbj certainly has not...mahorn and laimbeer and oakley and starks and mason and rodman and salley would have fucking hammered this dude...would he get up? fuck, he got carried off the court after a shoulder injury...he s not likable, i think thats why a lot of people dont like him

Lebron is the 1st of a new era. You will see others like him. Not like 1 every year with his talent but stuff is changing. I grew up taller than my colleagues and sucked at ball handling skills because i was tall and sent automatically down low. When you are 6'9" and 260 pounds of muscle with basketball skill, you are impossible to guard.
