Canbet was hit by a denial of service attack of a size that was impossible to predict. Even though we have a safe and secure web site, and a big internet pipe, there is not a lot you can do when you have 140 megabits a second of invalid data being thrown at the web site.
We have now installed some mitigation hardware which will prevent further attacks.
For those of you that are still having problems accessing the site, the large amount of data that was been sent accross the internet directed at us caused upstream internet providers to block whole ranges of IP addresses to combat the attack. It is a difficult job to find out which providers have blocked what, and as a result we are in the process of changing our IP address.
As soon as the changes filters through the internet, things should be back to normal. In the mean time if you cannot access the site directly at
http://www.canbet.co.uk then you should try the following url
http://195.49.147.130/.
We are still having problems accessing many websites, such as Neteller, and will do until we migrate our whole system to the new IP range. It is hard to give a time frame on this, but we expect it to be before the weekend.
