College hoops is another matter. I got down on Gonzaga early when they were 40-1. I couldn't believe my eyes (this was in early December) when I saw that number on them. GL Railbird.
CJI: I hope Memphis comes through for you.
It would make the NBA a lot more interesting if an underdog does actually win the thing for a change.
Kobe Bryant in a sign and trade for draft picks?
(if he is not going to resign, Byron Scott is coming to Memphis, Jerry West is his buddy, Lakers aren't sure if hes going in the slammer)
My only question would be is if you get paid if you win. $30,000 is more than most books would send you I would think, well if you are a small player that they know will never put even 1/5 that amount back into the book
I think futures are a waste of time in the NBA unless you know of a GM with trade bait/cap space who could do a sign and trade with a team who is going to lose thier player anyhow. A LA Shaq moving from Orlando to LA because they couldn't resign him.
Orlando may be a deal if they trade away the rights to Hill for someone looking to rebuild. Maybe Orlando gets McDyess?
In General Basketball is a game of runs and overall the better team can win thatgame if their mind is in it after the long real season.
Its not like foots or bases where a swing of the bat or a fumble can change the whole season.
Every play in hoops is still about 2% of that teams output which is not like any other sport. Add that to a 7 game series and your lucky to see the Denver Nuggets get a matchup edge in Seattle.
That said your best longshot is for a team to win the east. In the west you are going to pay out your ass for one of 3 teams that will win it. You won't see a Nuggets team walk through Dallas to get Sac or LA. Not without a trade.
Ivan, I got the same 200-1 on the Grizz just yesterday at Carib. Doubt they win but it seemed like a decent value shot. Also took the Nuggs 250-1 to win the West. Who knows!
