What products/services? Banking here and it is all about sales but very stressful. Financial Services covers a lot of territory, maybe you can find something less stressful with another company. Hate to say it man but stress is relative and it comes with most worthwhile careers. Also, try to stick it out until you find something else, employers are more likely to hire an employed individual than unemployed.

Good luck, I hope it works out...tough job market.

My one and only direct sales Job ever was back when directv first came out when I was still in school.

Back then directv use to charge $2500 for the dish and reciever that they give away for free now.
What we did was give them the monthly cost sell.

We would set them up on a revolving credit plan to pay off the $2500 dish. The minimum payment on this revolving plan was only about 25 bucks a month but if all you paid was the min it would probably take you 30 years to pay off the $2500 dish.

Then they would have a seperate bill for the channel subscription anywhere from 30 to 90 per month.

So the sales pitch was with cable you pay 60 per month for 100 channels. With directv you pay 25+30 to 90 for 100 or 200 channels and you own the dish and reciever to boot.

It was amazing how many people fell for it.

I sold 3 or 4 packages a day on a good day. The commission was like $400 per sale.

I was 19 years old making 3 to 5k per week on good weeks for about 5 months until directv started nose diving the prices of the dishes.

I still wonder to this day if there are still people out there that I sold these dishes to that are now free that are still paying there $25 a month from way back when.

First, DO NOT give your two weeks until you get a new job. You are much more marketable as an employed candidate than you are as an unemployed candidate, especially one that quit his job with nothing to fall back on.

Second, it is not easy to switch fields right now. There are still plenty of people out of work so you will be competing in the other fields with people who have experience in that field. That is not a good situation to be in.

If you are going to switch fields, be prepared to start at the absolute bottom. It is extremely difficult switching from a non tangible product to a tangible product. Whether you can do it or not is not the issue, its about whether or not an HR Recruiter or Hiring Manager will even give you a phone screen. What I would suggest is that you get on LinkedIn and network as much as possible.

If you are willing to move to louisiana I could get you an easy job making 65k a year or a hard job(to start) making close to 100k not counting ot in the oil business.

Youre lifestyle would take on some radical changes.

For instance you would go offshore in a helicopter for 7 days then come home for 7 days.

So every other week you would be away from home but you would also get a 1 week vacation every other week to.

I think I remember you live in north Caralina.

There are people who do this that work that far on a 14 and 14 schedule.

Its exactly like the 7 day I mentioned above except its 14.

This makes it easier for people like you with long drives.

Now you have to decide. Do you want the easy money at 65k or do you want to take on the hard job for 100k?

The good part about the hard job is if you prove yourself over a 4 or 5 year period the job gets easy and the pay goes up even more.

If you take the easy job for 65k 10 years from now you might be lucky if you are making 75k.

Lots of things to weigh.

PM me if interested

I seriously thought about this years ago. I actually wouldn't mind going to Afghanistan or wherever either. I just don't have the right hook ups to do it. A friend went with Fluor and made $130k, with the first $97k being tax free, came back after a year, bought a house, paid off his college, and now has an $85k cakewalk job with them forever basically. Sign me up...

I actually want to move. Have for almost 10 years now. A job out of town would be great for me. I need to get out of here to clear my head completely anyways. Just looking for that chance and I know that I will shine...

Let me look into oil again and think about it. I knew about the 7 on 7 off schedule already, and hey, I sure do love helicopters!

He has matured, im a professional and he and his uncle made a deal with me that if anyone is owed they get paid and its on their dime (if not ill take care of it)

Dont need the name out on the net for a false story that is BS to begin with...so if my PMs get fixed explain to me the deal and well work it out

talk soon dude

Doubt anyone will buy into the cousin story, but regardless people change. Good luck with job hunting. Just kind of a weird setting for job advice on a gambling forum.....imo.

Matty...You need to change your resume and story. I would put your current job on your resume and when they ask why, say it was something you were really passionate about so you took a leap of faith to do what you love (helping cats or whatever it is). Say you still plan to volunteer at the place but it simply doesn't pay the bills. It shows you care about something but now realize you need an income as well. It also solves your employment gap so they don't drop you based on that.

Mlink Car sales I could never do but it's only as scummy as you want to make it. I can't imagine it's like it used to be. More people come armed with what a car is worth through online research so I doubt it's as much back and forth as before. "What's it gonna take to get you inside of this car." Cell phone sales, hell no. Awful hours, extremely high turnover rate and can't imagine a much worse and diverse customer base. For $45K to boot?

I would look into medical or tech sales like was said before. Medical sales much tougher to get into and tech sales once you get your foot in the door, I think you are golden. High turnover rate but I think it's because better offers around every corner (and higher pay offers).

Good luck!

If you want financial freedom, look up bettingresource. Best investment you will ever make and with a 5k start, you can probably quit working after 2 years.
