In financial services field right now, its really killing me stress wise probably going to give my two weeks and look elsewhere

Just got married and bought a home, plan on having a kid soon and I can't do this lifestyle of stress anymore

Sales is in my blood, I can sell sand to an Arab that is how talented I feel I am in sales #%()

What are the top sales jobs out there?

Car sales or cell phones sales would be the easiest, I believe. Any other sales job, you're on the phone all day calling thousands of people a week.

agree with illini.

car and cell phones are the easiest and make pretty decent money.

real estate is the biggest jump but you need to find sellers/buyers. not like a car lot or store where customers come to you.

my only advice is figure out where you are going to go before giving your two weeks. Esp with wife and kids it would suck if you 2 weeks to find a new job turned into 2 months.

cars and cell phone sales? Not sure I fit that role

I have my MBA and worked on wall street now 9 years..not sure i would make the shift to car salesmen no offense my brother in law does it and makes 6 figures but that is just not my cup of tea

I was thinking corporate sales, IT, tech, software

i'd much rather be in the types you mentioned but you may need background in the industry. I.e. I used to be in public accounting and the accounting/tax/time management/etc. software sales guys were almost always accountants because they fit the need. I assume the same goes for IT, tech, etc.

I sell for a living, IT systems for midsize corporations, lots of interaction with people, lots of dinner drinks etc. Money's ok could be better but I set my own hours and get paid on my results

My brother sells cars and has since he was 18. now in his mid 40's. Makes 6 figures also and loves it. Wouldn't do anything else. No way in hell I could do it.

why did i think you found something?

because I said I was doing okay. I am actually. Haven't had a drink or puff of anything in months and months now. Financially, I'm in deep shit.

I'm struggling because no one wants to interview the guy who hasn't worked in 14 months, even though he's tried nonstop to get a job and had the same job for 8 years even. Not to mention a Degree from the top school in his state. I always get "overqualified" for the low paying jobs, and never get a call back from the jobs I'm used to having.

I am working PT right now, but it fell into my lap through my volunteer animal rescue. I do get to work an MMA show about once a month, but that's not enough to really count.

yeah, i think you said you were doing okay and I think you mentioned part time gigs.

I totally agree with the 14 month no work thing. Maybe you have to come up with an excuse. Working from home, caregiver, etc.

I have a buddy who has been out of work for 6 months, I try to tell him the same thing about finding something soon before the gap in employment gets too big to look over.

Great job yesterday emailed me and said "I have one question for you, have you worked since May 2013?". Saying No and they quit communicating.

I am going to change up my resume this weekend to include working for the 501c3 volunteer group that I foster cats and do most of the social media and adoption events for them. I talked to our Director, and she is game to bee my top work reference. This shit ain't easy too. The last 3 weeks since we saved a hoarding and animal cruelty situation, I have worked harder than I ever have at any paying job. The boat wouldn't float without me, and she will testify to that.

Car sales can be feast or famine. Cell phones you won't make shit. Medical device, capital equipment or pharma, as Falls stated.

I said the same thing to myself when someone mentioned this earlier. $30k seems to be about the norm, and that's with shitty hours to boot on weekends and nights till 8 or 9. sure, a few will make $45-50k, but with the hours they work etc, it's still shit.
