Yes I think this is becoming way too dramatic.
My opinion is if someone in the boardroom found it offensive, then I suppose it should be taken out. Since im sure general doesnt have your email or IM, it's probably hard to get ahold of you and he would have to make a post asking for permission and keep bumping it till you see it. I don't think it was all that big of a deal it's just an avatar.
