Conservatives face false ‘SWAT’ calls: FBI Director Kash Patel announces crackdown
FBI Director Kash Patel on Friday addressed a recent chain of false “SWAT” calls against conservative media figures on social media.
“I want to address the alarming rise in ‘Swatting’ incidents targeting media figures,” Patel said. “The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.”
“This isn’t about politics—weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives, including those of our officers,” he said. “That will not be tolerated. We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes. More updates to come.”
The statement comes after conservatives on X with sizeable followings have said they were targets of the “SWATting” calls – when someone calls the police and makes a false claim, usually, about a threat to life on someone’s property, prompting armed police to show up and typically enter the home by force with guns drawn.
