sportysteve- I certainly can't blame you for thinking the NFL is shady. While I don't think the games are fixed, I think the quality of play and the officiating are absolutely horrible. When you mix in all the different bets that you can make, the plays we see on the field are magnified when they effect the side, total or a prop bet that you might have.

Week after week the players and coaches make the same stupid mistakes and the officials blow key calls. When they're not missing calls, they throw too many flags on marginal stuff just to get face time on TV.

I feel the NFL is the toughest thing there is to handicap. There are just too many variables that can make all your homework, research and line shopping seem completely useless once they kick off.

If you want an example of really bad officiating check out the play the Cubs centerfielder Lofton made (obviously caught the ball, and the Braves base runners new it but somehow the umps didn't). This was a rare triple play but when the dust settled it was only a force at second and a run scored. If the Cubs had lost that game the conspiracy theorists (including me) would have talked for years.

Know this is not the baseball forum, but have to weigh in. Why does everyone keep saying it would have been a triple play? Giles went back to first. Sheff would have flown out, guy on second would have been doubled off and Giles would have been standing at first safely.

Nevertheless, it was a pathetic call with 6 umps on the Field.

I thought about this myself after watching the Skins march down the field at will when they couldnt do it all night long. I cant say for sure if anything is fixed but I do know that the NFL along with the NBA has had games throughout a season where the talent and the players have nothing to do with the outcome, take that as you will. I have caught Al Michaels on several occasions "Now its really over" referring to the spread on a monday night game so we know they know whats up. We wouldnt be talking about it if there wasnt something to it. I had philly and i also had washington yesterday so i won and i lost for that very same reason. Week 5 was mutha. what else can we do but lick our wounds and come back with a vengence next week. you gotta love it.

hahahah...How about this game Oren?
The funny thing is I had tb to win but after the onside kick, I started rooting for dungy. Figured if Tb wasnt going to cover, Dungy might as well get his revenge. This was almost better then what Testervede did a couple years back. Like I said before Week 5 was a mutha

heh, still, it was a miraculous come-back that the refs can't fabricate, but, when it comes down to it they stepped in and handed the game to the Colts for some reason. I've seen that black ref(sorry don't know his name) get emotional calling Raider games, like he enjoys throwing flags at shit-talking teams. For this tool to make it his personal crusade against players he dislikes is a complete travesty. I can't ****in believe that call, all time worst EVER!!!! Maybe the NFL wants to sell more Manning jerseys, who ****in knows.

That was questionable...Al Michels read the rule afterwards ...to paraphrase "If you line up more than 1 yard behind the line you can't jump and land on another player" but no question the refs were too involved. That running into the kick on the colts was weak as well. Either way this is one of the most entertaining games I have ever seen. I am glad I didn't turn it off at the half.

you gotta wonder what retards make up these rules. Sounds like a rule they specifically engineered to give the refs a tool to control the outcome.

The refs have a tendency to call the rule by the letter of the law...according to the rule by they were trchnicaly right. However, it was unfortunate b/c it had no outcome on the kick.

Did you see the replay of the one that went through? Looks like a TB tipped it and actually redirected it in. Unreal.

Would have been a riple play the runner at second went to home, one out, runner at first off the bag ,two outs, and the catch 3 outs.
