Wilhelm, your dating yourself (age wise I mean ), I grew up in Vero Beach, FL(a) at that time and I used to hang out at the Spring traing facility when I could.....I can't tell you why now after all these years but for some stupid reason I was an A's fan. My best friend Joe B. was Dodger blue through and through; we used to have a game where you would spin a dial with every players card. We would even keep score in the book.

My Dodger memories are coming home from school to watch the World Series with the Dodgers and the A's. Vida Blue, Reggie Jackson, Sal Bando, Gene Tenace, Rudy Campineras, and God I can't believe I remember so many of those names. Dodgers? I remember Steve Yaeger, Ron Cey, Steve Garvey and ?
Anyway Joe and I are still friends, he is still Dodger Blue and I have become a Braves fan here in Atlanta. His wife hates sports and my girlfriend is from Canada, so they think we're crazy when we get drunk and play the do you "member" game.

Good Luck

Glaken I remember that game it has been around since the 50's. I think it was called APBA Baseball - Each major league player has his own card, which includes different statistics. The game had all kinds of charts for game situations (e.g. bases loaded, runners on first and second etc.). You would spin the needle and it would tell you results of at bat based on the particular players stats.

I actually remember plaing baseball in doors with a regular deck of playing cards where each card had a value (eg. Aces were homers). We would make up line-ups on paper and play games all day.

I use to play a great card- statistical game call Status-Pro baseball...made by Avalon Hill Game Co. It was a very realistic statistical game similar to the one being mentioned.

I'll try and find the game on some old toy sites....it was awsome...after that we go out for some ass whippin wiffle ball....you were out if you got hit by the ball.

The spin the needle game we had had different widths of area on the card depending on the previous years stats ( homers were smaller than strike outs ) and in every year you all ways had the old timers. If I ever make it to a RX bash we should try and bring one just for the hell of it.

I don't know if Angel is still around but she was talking about a ping pong tourny at the bash. Did that ever happend?

glaken, Angelle still posts occasionally. I recall another popular game called Strat-O-Matic that was fun for indoor baseball.

If you're reading this, chances are good you already are familiar with the Strat-O-Matic baseball board game. And why shouldn't you be? It's been a happy part of people's lives for over forty years. The game's perfect combination of realism and fun has inspired a legendary sense of loyalty among Strat-O-Matic's customers, making it one of the most popular games in the world. Maybe you spent your childhood tossing dice with your little brother or neighborhood buddy, exulting in wins and grimacing at defeats. You were drawn in by the responsibility of managing your own team of major league players. You were drawn in by a game in which big-league players actually perform for you just like they would in real life. Even if you have never heard of Strat-O-Matic, there are so many attractive characteristics to the game that you will soon want to learn more.

I played this game religiously in the summers of my youth...I don't recall any charts, just the round disk shaped cards....I recall the # 7 and 13 were singles, #1 at the top was a homer, I think #11 was a double....Man that was a fun game, I remember Dave Kingman had a huge homerun area on his card, and Rod Carew with huge #7 and #13 for singles,lol...

Dodgers won the series in 6 games. I think it was Larry Sherry who was MVP of the series. Zoilio Versailles was MVP in the AL that year for the Twins.
