Portland vs San Jose
- San Jose finally getting healthier with the expected return of their excellent mf Chavez and perhaps the best RFB in MLS, Beitashour, along with Lenhart and Gordon up front. Still missing a few but in the next few weeks will be a real "play on" team. Even during this injury crisis they've been creating chances that Wondo isn't finishing. In total they're avg 15 shots/game which is near the top in MLS although only 21 of them (28%) have found the frame. They're also in top couple in open play crosses/game and corners/game so are playing more offensive than their 5 goals would prove. Last week's 2-0 loss in Houston was their first road game in 8 they didn't score and this has happened in just 2 trips in last 26 away. Similarly Portland's home shutout of Houston was first home game in 7 without conceding and just 2nd time in 15 so they almost always concede. Timbers lead the league with nearly 2 goals/game and are tied for league lead with Toronto at 2 home goals/game. I always seek out overs when both clubs have long history of both scoring and conceding which is true tonight. Portland have had BTS in 5 of last 6, 9 of last 12 overall and in 12 of L15 at home. SJ had a streak of 14 in a row and 18/20 last year of BTS and in 13 of 15 road games leading into the playoffs. One negative is that Portland mf Valeri is out and some chance of rain during match on the turf so perhaps a smaller bet than I originally planned. Seven matches so far in MLS this weekend with just 10 total goals...

SJ/Por o2.25 2.5u to win 2u

MLS games for this weekend- 1 game with 0 goals, 3 games with 1 goal, 4 games with 2 goals, and 1 game with 3 goals. Avg of 1.55 goals per game. 4 of 9 games were a draw. 4 tiimes this year I have played a small home favorite who dominated the stats but came away with a 0-0 draw. This is a tough league to bet right now unless you are playing draws and/or unders (at least for me).

game last night was among the 3-4 worst I've ever seen played in MLS. far closer to rugby than football...

news out of France. bad for United but good for the English national team. I've long held the belief that they'll never amount to shit until a few of their stars try to apply their trade outside of the EPL. Playing the same styles and against the same players every week will always keep them below Spain, Italy, and Germany

Good move for Wayne and United. He's a man without a position on the current version of the reds. Kagawa can now comfortably slide into the central role behind RVP and/or Welbeck.
