Preview: Sharks (27-17) at Flames (28-20)

Date: February 04, 2015 10:00 PM EDT

The San Jose Sharks utilized a successful homestand to prove themselves against the NHL's top teams and keep pace in the competitive Western Conference.

Following a tough loss, the Sharks hit the road for the first time in more than three weeks Wednesday night against the upstart Calgary Flames, who have won seven of nine.

San Jose (27-17-7) finished its seven-game homestand 4-1-2 and defeated league powers Los Angeles, Anaheim and Chicago in consecutive games before falling to Edmonton on Monday 5-4 in a 13-round shootout.

"We get 10 points out of 14, we'll take it," coach Todd McLellan told San Jose's official website. "We have to be pleased with that ... At the other end of the spectrum, we're really disappointed. Our team has to find that medium where we don't get too high and we don't get too low. Even the high part we'll take. This low part is unacceptable."

Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton have led the Sharks offensively. Pavelski, who leads the team with 46 points, has five goals over his last five games, while Thornton has recorded 10 points in six games.

The successful homestand has distanced the Sharks in the Pacific Division from Los Angeles and Vancouver, who each were within one game of San Jose following its most recent road game Jan. 13.

The Sharks, however, have been unable to create separation from Calgary (28-20-3).

The Flames topped Winnipeg 5-2 on Monday for their seventh win in nine games. They currently sit in the Western playoff picture, only two points behind the Sharks.

"We have nothing to celebrate," coach Bob Hartley told Calgary's official site. "We can be proud of the way we play. We can be happy with where we're at. But there's still way too much hockey to be played to get complacent."

Mark Giordano got his team-leading 43rd point in Monday's win and Sean Monahan scored his 17th goal of the season.

Monahan has played a significant offensive role during the current hot spell. He snapped a 13-game goal drought Jan. 15 and now has six goals in eight games, including the overtime winner in Calgary's 4-3 win over San Jose on Jan. 17.

The Flames also topped the Sharks in their previous trip to San Jose on Nov. 26, but fell in the last matchup at Calgary 3-2 on Dec. 6.

Logan Couture has scored in each of the Sharks' last two matchups with Calgary, and his 43 points rank behind only Pavelski and Thornton for the team lead. However, he has gone cold lately, failing to earn a point in each of San Jose's last two contests.

"We have to get better," Couture said. "We're facing a Calgary team in our next game on Wednesday that's going to be hungry and they're right behind us."

Antti Niemi figures to start for the Sharks. Niemi has started all three previous meetings with Calgary this season and owns a 2.55 goals-against average in 38 starts. He'll likely be opposed by Jonas Hiller, who has a 1.58 GAA in his last five.

NBA Win Total Update - February

The first-half of the 2014-15 NBA regular season is in the books with most teams playing at least 45 games.

Before the marathon of the 82-game regular season began, the LVH SuperBook at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort released NBA Win Totals for all 30 teams.

We checked in on teams after the 1st quarter (20 games) and took notice that the Western Conference was dominating with nine teams on pace to go 'over' their win total expectations set by the oddsmakers. Since then, a lot has changed in the West and the East.

The team taking the league by storm right now is Atlanta, who put together a perfect 17-0 mark this month. The Hawks were on pace to bust their win total of 40.5 heading into January, but Atlanta is now several wins away from cashing 'over' tickets.

Golden State also dominated in January with a 12-3 record to own the best winning percentage in the league at .837. The Warriors still have work to do to finish 'over' their win total of 50.5, but Steve Kerr's team is well on its way there.

Three clubs are stuck in the single-digit win category towards the end of January, as bettors who took the 'under' in the Knicks, Timberwolves and 76ers are looking great. The Nets and Lakers each put together a horrible month to pretty much lock up 'under' winners.

Last season, Phoenix was the first team to earn a result on its win total. This year's version of the Suns is Milwaukee, who have gone 25-22 through Jan. 31, 2015. The win total on the Bucks was listed at 24.5 victories, which means they cashed tickets on Saturday night with their home win over Portland.

Listed below are all of the teams, their win totals, record and projection, which is based on current win percentage.

Football bettors' post-Super Bowl guide to the NBA
By JASON LOGAN

The day after Super Bowl is an eye opening day for sports bettors. Plenty of us have had on football blinders for the past five months and have zero clue about anything off the gridiron.

With pigskin off the menu until the fall, the NBA bumps up to main event status in the sports betting industry – at least until March Madness rolls around. So, in order to get your football-soaked brain up to speed on what’s happened on the hardwood since October, we break down some of the biggest betting story lines in the NBA:

Hot-lanta Hawks

If you’re taking a gander at the NBA standings for the first time this season, you may be wondering what the hell happened to the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta, a team good enough to make the playoffs but little else, has exploded over the past month and a bit.

The Hawks bring a 19-game winning streak into Monday, having covered in the first 15 games of that impressive stretch – an all-time high as far back as our NBA ATS records show. However, the market has adjusted and then some to Atlanta’s success, and books are now inflating their nightly spreads. That’s led to a 1-3 ATS mark in the Hawks’ last four games.

Atlanta is very reliant on the 3-pointer, shooting an NBA-best 38.8 percent from beyond the arc and picking up 28.5 percent of its total offense from distance – an always dangerous tendency. One off night from outside, and things fall apart. And, Atlanta just lost Thabo Sefolosha to a calf injury for the next six weeks, taking away one of its top defenders and an unheralded glue guy in the Hawks’ rotation.

If you’re thinking about rolling your football winnings into the Atlanta Hawks, you might be late to the party.

Cleveland is supposed to be good, right?

When LeBron James headed home for the 2014-15 season, the power shifted in the NBA and the Cleveland Cavaliers became the new NBA Championship favorite. Things got even sweeter for Cavs fans when the team traded for elite big man Kevin Love. But, much like the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers – who also formed All-Star-rich rosters – Cleveland has gone through some growing pains (29-20 SU, 22-27 ATS).

Right now, the Cavaliers look like they have things figured out. Cleveland rides a 10-game winning streak into Monday’s date with the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, going 9-1 ATS in that span. A closer look at this stretch reveals that many of those wins came against bottom feeders - Lakers, Jazz, Hornets, Pistons, Kings and Timberwolves – so don’t be stunned if we’re a little hesitant to crown Cleveland NBA champs just yet.

Lebron & Co. have some tougher tasks ahead on the schedule, playing the Clippers, Pacers, Heat, Bulls, Wizards, and Warriors before the month is through. Betting the Cavs on the regular is a tough chore due to the massive inflation their lines receive, but the smarter bet has been on the Under.

Cleveland, with all that offensive firepower, has underperformed with the basketball, leading to a 16-32-1 O/U record – tied for the best Under bet in the league. The Cavaliers, much like Miami’s “Big Three”, have gone against the grain – everyone expecting a mountain of points each outing – and keep fans of the Under happy. Even if Love doesn’t play defense.

Warriors, come out and play

Even though you haven’t thought about the NBA since the Spurs downed the Heat in the NBA Finals, take comfort in knowing that the Western Conference is still where the big boys plays.

Outside of the Hawks, the next four top teams in the league come from the West. And seven of the 10 best records in the NBA belong to Western Conference franchises. At the very tippy top of that ultra-competitive conference sit the Golden State Warriors, at 37-8 SU and 29-15-1 ATS.

Golden State’s game plan is simple: We’re going to score more points than you. And it’s worked out pretty well so far. The Warriors were a license to print money early in the season, catching the betting market off guard with an 11-5 ATS mark out of the gate. But since then, betting Golden State has become a little more picky-choosey.

At home in the Bay Area, the Warriors have run the table – going 17-6-1 ATS this year. They score more (114.2 points per home), shoot better (49.8 percent), and drain more 3-pointers (11 per game) inside Oracle Arena.

Golden State plays the fastest pace in the NBA, averaging 101.3 points per 100 possessions, and lures opponents into this tempo – like it or not. That pace has forced foes to play well outside their comfort zone, which is why the Warriors are averaging 16.6 forced turnovers – fourth in the NBA.

You’d think a “shoot first, play defense later” type team at that pace would be smashing the totals every time it takes the court, but the oddsmakers have done a good job padding against those points, and actually has Golden State at 23-22 O/U on the year.

Big Bucks, No whammies

It could be the ho-hum state of the Eastern Conference or just that the Milwaukee Bucks have been so bad for so long that any improvement would be a shockwave through the NBA betting market, but things are OK in Brew Town.

Milwaukee is currently the second-best bet in the NBA at 32-15 ATS (20-6 ATS on the road) and sits sixth in the conference at two games over .500. Ah, the East. The Bucks are a starless team with six players scoring at least nine points a night and a bench that ranks No. 1 in the league – averaging 43.6 points from the reserves.

Milwaukee is extremely efficient on both ends of the floor, shooting a sterling 46.6 percent from the field but averaging a patient 98.7 points per game. On defense, the Bucks have limited opponents to just 97 points against and 43.5 percent shooting – ranked second in defensive efficiency at 0.986 points per 100 possessions. But the biggest thing playing into Milwaukee’s success against the spread is that they could be the least sexy team in the NBA.

From a lack of name-brand players to those terrible Xmas-inspired uniforms, the betting market isn’t going to suck the value out of the Bucks like it would Cleveland or Golden State. And they’ve held that value despite a rash of season-ending injuries to key players. Thanks to a deep rotation, Milwaukee has been able to absorb those blows and keep moving forward – like the NBA’s version of Rocky Balboa.

'NBA Favorite After Blowout Loss'

NBA handicapping being very situational it's always prudent to have in your handicapping tool box a list of 'What-2-Watch-4'. One situation that has proven profitable is to 'Play-On' a regular season favorite after a blowout loss (-15 or more points). The logic is pretty simple. We have a team who just got taken behind the woodshed and is still considered good enough to be favored. Not only are these teams typically going to be good, they're also going to be motivated following the beat-down. Since 2012, favorites in this situation have cashed at a 54.4% clip (160-129-5 ATS). Although there's nothing wrong with cashing 54.4% of tickets, we can improve the hit rate to 63.0% (51-27-3 ATS) if we focus solely on a road favorite off a blowout loss. Perhaps the best situation to keep an eye out for is to 'Play-On' a regular season road favorite off a -15 or more point loss playing a conference opponent off a win. It won't pop up often but given the hit rate paying attention can pay off handsomely. The situation has certainly passed the test of time, since 2010 these motivated road favorites have been consistent winners cashing 70.4% of tickets (19-8 ATS) including a sparkling 12-2 (85.7%) streak against the betting line since 2012.

NBA Wednesday's Tip Sheet
By Kevin Rogers

Nets at Raptors – 7:35 PM EST

Brooklyn eliminated Toronto in the first round of last season’s playoffs in seven games, but the Raptors have won each of the first matchups this season. These Atlantic Division rivals met up last week at the Barclays Center, the Nets fell short to the Raptors in overtime, 127-122. Brooklyn erased a 17-point deficit, while cashing as 7 ½-point underdogs as Jarrett Jack and Brook Lopez each put up 35 points in the loss. The Nets bounced back from that loss to down the Clippers on Monday, 102-100 as 8 ½-point home ‘dogs, as Lionel Hollins’ team snapped a four-game skid.

Toronto’s six-game winning streak came to a screeching halt in Monday’s 82-75 home setback to Milwaukee, the fewest points the Raptors have scored a game in this season. The Raps were limited to 32% shooting from the floor as Kyle Lowry and Louis Williams converted just two of 19 shots combined. The low-scoring affair halted a five-game streak to the ‘over,’ while Toronto dropped to 2-8 ATS in the past 10 games at the Air Canada Center.

Wizards at Hawks – 7:35 PM EST

Atlanta will look to build a new winning streak after seeing its 19-game hot stretch fall apart at New Orleans in Monday’s 115-100 defeat as three-point favorites. The Hawks have allowed over 100 points just six times in the past 20 games, while not being a reliable club to bet on of late by posting a 1-4 ATS record in the last five contests. Mike Budenholtzer’s team is riding a 10-game winning streak at Philips Arena, which includes a 120-89 blowout of Washington last month, the biggest rout for Atlanta during its record hot streak.

Washington hits the road following a pair of home losses to Toronto and Charlotte, extending its ATS cold streak to 0-7 the past seven games. The Wizards scored just 37 points in the second half of Monday’s 92-88 setback to the Hornets as eight-point favorites to fall to 1-4 in its last five home contests. Randy Wittman’s squad has struggled in the role of a road underdog this season, covering just three of 10 times, while going 1-4 ATS on the highway against division foes.

Bulls at Rockets – 8:05 PM EST

Chicago is coming off a four-day break in the midst of its six-game road trip, as the Bulls attempt to snap a two-game skid. The trip started off on a high note with an exciting 113-111 overtime triumph at Golden State as 11-point underdogs, but the Bulls dropped back-to-back games to the Lakers and Suns, although Chicago managed a cover at Phoenix as seven-point ‘dogs. Tom Thibodeau’s squad hasn’t lost three consecutive games this season, while putting together a 4-0 record off back-to-back losses.

The Rockets begin a three-game homestand after falling at Detroit on Saturday, 114-101 as four-point favorites. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Houston, as Kevin McHale’s team allowed over 94 points for the first time in four tries. The Rockets have won six of their past seven games at the Toyota Center, while putting together a 6-2 SU and 4-4 ATS record against Eastern Conference opponents at home. Houston is playing with revenge after losing at Chicago last month, 114-105 as three-point underdogs, while the Rockets have won four of the last six meetings with the Bulls.

Thunder at Pelicans – 8:05 PM EST

New Orleans is the hottest ATS team in the league at the moment, covering six of the past seven games. The Pelicans halted Atlanta’s 19-game winning streak in convincing fashion on Monday in a 115-100 victory as three-point home underdogs. Anthony Davis returned from a one-game absence to score 29 points and pull down 13 rebounds as the Pelicans improved to 4-1 SU/ATS on their six-game homestand. New Orleans grabbed the first two meetings with Oklahoma City this season, winning both times in the underdog role as the two teams begin a home-and-home set that wraps up on Friday.

Kevin Durant is doubtful with a toe injury that has sidelined the scoring champion for three of the past four games. Oklahoma City is ice-cold from an ATS standpoint, putting together an 0-6 ATS record in the last six games, while losing four times in this stretch. The only two victories for the Thunder since a four-game winning streak have come against the Magic and Wolves at home as double-digit favorites. OKC is riding a six-game ‘under’ stretch, as the offense has put up 98 points or less five times during this span.

Mavericks at Warriors – 10:35 PM EST

Dallas has gone through several ups and downs over the past two weeks, starting with a three-game winning streak, followed by a four-game skid. Now, the Mavericks are back on track by winning their past three contests, although each victory came over three under .500 teams (Magic, Heat, Wolves). Rick Carlisle’s team has dropped five of the last six games as a road underdog, while losing seven of eight times this season on the highway against teams currently in the top eight of the Western Conference. Rajon Rondo will sit out once again after suffering a facial injury in a victory at Orlando last week, as the Mavs’ guard will miss just his fourth game of the season.

The Warriors own an exceptional 22-2 record at Oracle Arena this season, while covering 17 times. Golden State plays with no rest following Tuesday’s contest in nearby Sacramento, as Steve Kerr’s club has compiled a strong 7-2 SU and 5-3-1 ATS record on the second of a back-to-back. The Warriors took care of the Mavericks in their first meeting in Dallas back in mid-December, 105-98 as Golden State led by as many as 28 points.

Notice the under hitting more this NBA season? Look at refs
Andrew Caley

The under has been the noticeably better bet in the NBA this season, converting 54.1 percent of the time and it has been even better the past month with unders coming in an impressive 61.5 percent of the time.

The under has gone 134-84 in the last 30 days, with it going 7-1 on Monday night.

One angle bettors should look at while capping totals for NBA games is referee assignments, (stats that can all be found on Covers) with some refs clearly being involved in more low scoring affairs. That being said here are the Top 5 under refs in the NBA to this point in the season.

1. David Guthrie: 10-27 Over/Under
2. Nick Buchert: 11-27 O/U
3. Haywoode Workman: 10-26 O/U
4. Ron Garretson: 11-26 O/U
5. Dan Crawford: 13-25 O/U

Underdogs a hot bet the past seven days
Andrew Caley

Underdogs have been a hot bet the last seven days, going an impressive 35-16 against the spread in NBA action. Good for a success rate of almost 69 percent.

This hot streak is highlighted by Monday night's action, where the dogs went an incredible 8-0 ATS. Underdogs have been the slightly better bet this season converting 51.4 percent of the time.

Bucks streaking against the spread
Andrew Caley

The Milwaukee Bucks edged the Toronto Raptors 82-75 in a defensive battle, which resulted in Milwaukee covering the spread for the sixth straight game.

The Bucks easily covered as 6-point road dogs, winning outright by seven. It was the fifth time during the streak the Bucks have covered as underdogs.

The win against the spread puts the Bucks at 33-15 ATS and just a half-game behind the Atlanta Hawks as NBA's best bet. They will try to make it seven in a row when they host the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday.

Hawks streak ends and have been cooling off ATS
Andrew Caley

The Atlanta Hawks incredible win streak came to an end last night, losing 115-100 to the New Orleans Pelicans Monday night, but they have been cooling off against the spread the last several games.

The Hawks had won 19 games in a row heading into last night, a streak that saw them go 16-3 against the spread, including 15 in a row.

However, books seem to be adjusting to the Hawks, as they are now just 1-4 ATS in their last five games.

Atlanta's schedule doesn't get any easier with their next three games coming against Washington, Golden State and Memphis.

Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks February 4, 07:00 EST

Atlanta Hawks losing 115-110 Monday in New Orleans snapping a nineteen game win streak try to get back into the win column when they host Southeast Division rival Washington Wizards.

Good spot for Hawks as they're 3-1 ATS after allowing 110 points in the previous game, 5-3 ATS off a loss this season. The clincher, Hawks 16-9 ATS as chalk at Philips Arena are 12-0 ATS laying 6.5 or less in front of the friendly crowd.

Wizards stung by Hornets last time out walking off at the wrong end of a 92-88 decision hit the hardwood under lousy conditions. Wizards have lost seven consecutive against the betting line, have a 2-7 ATS skid this campaign vs the conference, are just 9-13-1 ATS on the road including 3-7-1 ATS when in an underdog roll. Oddsmakers have opened Hawks 6.0 to 6.5 point favorite depending on locale. The total is set a 198.5.

Georgia Tech at Duke
By Brian Edwards

Despite trailing for much of the second half and by as many as 11 points at one point, Duke snapped Virginia's 21-game home winning streak thanks to a hot run of 3-pointers by Quinn Cook and Tyus Jones at winning time. When the buzzer sounded Saturday night in Charlottesville, the Blue Devils walked away with a 69-63 win over UVA as 5.5-point underdogs.

Mike Krzyzewski's team hooked up money-line supporters with a payout in the +200 range (risk $100 to win $290). Jones scored 13 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, including the game-clinching 3-pointer with 9.9 seconds remaining. Jones also had four rebounds and four assists compared to only one turnover.

Duke scored the last 11 points of the game to slip past UVA. Cook finished with 15 points thanks to 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range. Justice Winslow produced a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Duke (18-3 straight up, 11-9-1 against the spread) returns to the court Wednesday night to face Georgia Tech at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Westgate SuperBook opened the Blue Devils as 16.5-point home favorites against the Yellow Jackets.

Duke is in sixth place in the ACC with a 5-3 record against conference foes. Coach K's squad trails the Cavs, who are 8-1 in league play, by 2.5 games.

Georgia Tech (10-11 SU, 9-8-2 ATS) lost its first seven ACC games and brings an abysmal 1-8 ACC record to Durham. But gamblers shouldn't think of this team as horrible by any stretch.

With the exception of a 57-28 loss at Virginia, the Yellow Jackets have been in every other league conteState They lost in overtime at Notre Dame, by one to Syracuse at home, by three to Notre Dame at home and by two to Boston College at home.

Brian Gregory's team broke out of its ACC slide in a big way last week in Coral Gables, blasting Miami by a 70-50 count as a 9.5-point road underdog. Marcus Georges-Hunt buried 10-of-12 shots from the field and torched the Hurricanes for 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Chris Bolden added 13 points and DeMarco Cox produced 10 points and seven boards.

Coming off the win at UM, Georgia Tech returned home Saturday to take on North Carolina State. The Wolfpack led by nine at intermission and by 14 at one point. Nevertheless, Georgia Tech forced overtime and had a two-point lead in the final seconds.

But when Trevor Lacey knocked down a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, the Jackets had to swallow the most painful of many gut-wrenching defeats in the last five weeks. Lacey's winning trey lifted N.C. State to an 81-80 win as a one-point road 'chalk.'

In the losing effort, Georges-Hunt had 22 of his 23 points after halftime. Charles Mitchell scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Cox finished with 12 points and 10 boards.

Gregory's team has been an underdog 11 times, going 7-3-1 ATS. The Jackets own a 1-1 spread record in a pair of games as double-digit 'dogs.

Duke has been favored by double-digit margins in 14 games, limping to a 6-7-1 spread record. The Blue Devils are 6-9-1 versus the number in their last 15 outings (regardless of the venue).

Georges-Hunt is averaging a team-high 14.0 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per contest. He is averaging 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in Georgia Tech's last three outings.

Duke is led by freshman center Jahlil Okafor, who is third in the ACC in scoring (18.3 PPG) and rebounding (9.4 RPG). Okafor leads the ACC in field-goal percentage (66.4%).

Duke has won seven in a row in this rivalry and has taken the cash in three consecutive meetings. The Blue Devils led by only a point at halftime of last year's showdown at Cameron, but they pulled away in the final 20 minutes en route to a 79-57 win as 15.5-point home favorites. Cook had 12 points for the winners, while Georges-Hunt had 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting in defeat.

The 'over' is 10-6-2 overall for Georgia Tech, 5-2 in its road assignments.

The 'over' is 12-7-1 overall for Duke, 7-1 in its eight home games that had a total.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.

**B.E.'s Bonus Nuggets**

-- Penn State owns a perfect 6-0 spread record as an underdog this season. The Nittany Lions have covered in four straight going into tonight's game at Maryland. The slumping Terrapins were 8.5-point home favorites as of early this morning.

-- Syracuse avoided a loss its resume couldn't afford at home last night. Trailing by 13 to Virginia Tech with less than six minutes remaining, the 'Cuse finished the game on a 22-7 run. The Orange clipped the Hokies 72-70 when Michael Gbinije hit the game-winning bucket with 0.1 seconds left. Gbinije had tied the game with a pair of free throws at the 18-second mark. Trevor Cooney and Gbinije had 18 points apiece for the Orange, who had won by 20 in Blacksburg a few weeks ago.

-- With Kentucky at The O-Dome on deck Saturday, Florida fell victim to a look-ahead situation Tuesday night in Music City. Behind the hot shooting of freshman guard Riley LaChance, Vanderbilt captured a 67-61 win over the Gators as a 2.5-point home underdog. LaChance scored 15 points and Damian Jones finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. The Commodores outrebounded UF by a 36-25 margin.

-- Boise State has won six in a row after going into Logan and collecting a 68-63 win at Utah State last night. BSU star Derrick Marks played just 26 minutes due to first-half foul trouble, but he was able to score 17 of his 23 points in the second half. James Webb III, who has given this team a monster lift in Mountain West Conference play, had 18 points and eight rebounds. The Broncos have worked their way into the bubble picture going into Sunday's home game vs. San Diego State

-- I repeat: Butler is for real. The Bulldogs picked up another quality win by trouncing St. John's 85-62 at Hinkle Fieldhouse last night.

-- DePaul is 6-5 in Big East play after beating Seton Hall 75-62 as a short home underdog last night. Oliver Purnell deserves a lot of credit for the job he's done this year.

-- Mississippi State played spoiler again last night, winning 71-66 at Tennessee as a nine-point road underdog. The Bulldogs knocked off LSU at The Hump on Saturday in what was probably the biggest win of Rick Ray's disappointing three-year tenure. To be clear, none of us know if Ray is or is going to be a good coach. With the injuries and other misfortune his team has gone through since he arrived, there's no way to judge his work fairly. But if the last two games are any indicator, Ray finally has Mississippi State headed in the right direction. Most important, he has helped MSU backers cash tickets at a 6-1 ATS clip in their last seven games. After playing Saturday at Arkansas, the Bulldogs play four of their next five games in Starkville.

-- Wyoming takes on Colorado State at home tonight. The Rams will be looking to avenge a 60-54 home loss to the Cowboys in Ft. Collins on Jan. 7. Larry Shyatt's team is 18-4 but has just one win over an RPI Top-50 foe (CSU, which is 30th in the RPI), so a victory in this spot is pivotal. Other than next Wednesday's game at San Diego State (2/11), Wyoming doesn't have any more regular-season opponents who are currently in the RPI Top 100.

Coach K's troops handing Virginia their first blemish of the campaign while snapping Cavaliers' 21-game ACC home streak take a huge step down in class when they return to Cameron Indoor Stadium to host ACC bottom dwelling Georgia Tech (10-11, 9-8-2 ATS). Blue Devils (18-3, 11-9-1 ATS) lead by Jahlil Okafor dropping 18.3 per contest with Quinn Cook, Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow all chipping in with double digits net a robust 80.6 points/game while shooting 49.7% from the field. Yellow Jackets with two players in double digits are not as efficient offensively netting 64.6 points/game on 41.3% shooting. Not the best venue for Yellow Jackets to pick up a win as Blue Devils are on a sparkling 32-1 SU stretch in front of the Cameron Crazies (22-19-2 ATS). But, you do bet Duke at some risk (-17.5). Blue Devils have a tendency to falter against the betting line facing ACC opponents (4-10-2 ATS) and have struggled to cash on home court this season (4-5-1 ATS). On the other side, Yellow Jackets have thrived ATS last thirteen true road games (10-4 ATS) and have a profitable 9-3-1 ATS stretch going vs ACC rivals.
