Hawthorne - Race #6 - Post: 4:50pm - Allowance - 8.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $20,700 Class Rating: 90

Rating:

#2 SMILING GAMBLER (ML=8/1)
#5 BUBUZELA (ML=5/1)
#6 HARBOR JEDI (ML=9/2)

SMILING GAMBLER - Speed ratings on the turf point to this horse as a legit contender. Has the best in the field for this distance and surface. The Oct 14th race at Hawthorne was at a class level of (96). Dropping down the class ladder drastically, so she should be in a good position to win. BUBUZELA - Castro and Mitchell getting together are a horse gambler's friend. I seem to always make money betting Mitchell horses on the turf. That barn has a dominant win percent for this distance/surface. This mare is certainly on the improve with Equibase speed figures of 80, 82, 87 last 3 out. Last time around the track, ran the last quarter in less than 25 ticks. A good indication she can close well, and should be right there at the finish this time. HARBOR JEDI - This jockey and conditioner's horses have been generating a positive return on investment. This horse is for real on the grass. TrackMaster turf figure in last race at Arlington was tops in this bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 CLARE VIEW (ML=7/2), #11 CRUSADER GIRL TOO (ML=5/1), #4 ICY TALES (ML=8/1),

CLARE VIEW - Trying to beat this horse today at the value of 7/2. CRUSADER GIRL TOO - Unlikely that the fig she recorded on October 28th will hold up in this event. ICY TALES - This filly won last time, but probably won't do it today versus tougher competition.

Mahoning Valley Race Course - Race #6 - Post: 3:04pm - Claiming - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $8,500 Class Rating: 70

Rating:

#9 CONQUEST CYCLONE (ML=6/1)
#8 JUSTICE YALL (ML=6/1)

CONQUEST CYCLONE - Good win percentage this jockey and conditioner tandem have been putting together. Sprinters that come back to the races quickly are generally good plays. Trainer, Sullivan, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. This speedy sort is shortening up today. Should promote his chances to win. JUSTICE YALL - Ranks at the top in earnings per start. A solid effort right here will boost the lifetime total. I figure that today's shorter trip should help this gelding. The improved speed figs over the last three races is strong. Gorham drops him in this clash ready to win.

Vulnerable Contenders: #10 PREMIER ACCESS (ML=7/2), #11 CRASH GATE (ML=4/1), #4 PRAYER CHANT (ML=8/1),

PREMIER ACCESS - If you keep betting these sort of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be disillusioned most every time. The favorite is suspect here with the lack of morning activity. CRASH GATE - This horse garnered a speed rating in his last affair which probably isn't good enough today. PRAYER CHANT - Hard to take this mount at these odds after the finish position (fifth) in the last affair. Won't be easy for this entrant to beat this group off of that last speed fig. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close to today's class figure, so put him on the likely underlays list.
