Tips are pooled for 2 week pay periods here. Every morning 2 dealers and 2 security officers collect the tips from every table and then count it out with a gaming officer and log the total. So total 2 week drop divided by # of hrs worked by dealers gives you your toke rate. $200k ÷ 10,000 hrs worked, would get you $20 + base rate etc. Base rate is anywhere from like $4-9 based on game knowledge and property

Some places in vegas pool tips per 8 hour shift i believe

Thanks when you say pooled just amongst dealers on shifts ? Is pay in a casino as a dealer similar to a waitress/waiter in a restaurant sorry I’m just curious .

That depends on the casino as well. I worked at one where it was pooled for a 24 hour shift and another where it was pooled weekly. It should pretty much even out in the long run. The shift doesn't matter as everyone makes the same.

I believe the standard practice is some sort of tip pooling in a casino which is fair in some ways and sucks in others, certainly Kidman knows better than me . I believe poker dealers get to keep their own tokes, and I always thought a restaurant waitress kept their own tips and then used their discretion as to taking care of support personal like busboys, bartenders etc. I really couldn't envision a casino cocktail nurse pooling tips with others.

Some reasons for a BJ dealer pooling system would include accounting for vastly different table limits found in a casino, it could be a $5 minimum table, or $25, or even more, the higher limit tables should theoretically naturally generate larger tokes, not every dealer can be on the high dollar table at the same time
Craps dealers are a team, the only to do it is with a split pool.

I hate pooling for a few reasons some BJ dealers do nothing to encourage tokes. I've played many thousands of hours at BJ tables. It's common to find an Asian female with zero personality that seems to know one word of English... Insurance ? Sorry, no tip for you ! Others are downright fun , interesting, entertaining, fluent etc.

Guess which one I toke ? So it can be quite unfair to the dealers that do nothing more than deal the cards and pay/ collect the checks, granted the job description I'm sure doesn't require you to be an entertainer, but a touch of personality goes a long way way in adding to toke pool and making the casino experience enjoyable .It sure helps when you're tending bar especially if you're a guy not some
hot chick wearing as little as possible.

Another reason for pooling is accountability to the IRS, casino has that angle covered with pooling and is not complicant in helping you cheat on your taxes

Probably still has to pay for parking though...Vegas starting to suck.

Vegas will never suck, the places that charge for parking is mainly all on the strip, which you never can win at those casinos anyway..All the casinos off strip and downtown have free parking and way better chances to win.Its being proven all the time, as those are all hopping and crowded if you notice...i'll never stop going to Vegas even though we have sports gambling now, as the vibe is not the same.

Poker keeps their own in my house. Day shift probably deals with 15-20% of the volume, but gets paid the same tokes as night shift. Since most people on days have been there quite some time, their base rates could be $3-5 higher off raises and or game knowledge

Dealers at Indian casinos here in AZ keep their own tips. They carry around their own tip boxes and move them from table to table.

I aways tip when I win, but I always tip more at these places. I know who is getting my money.

Lot's of dealers who hate their job. I'd rather not give to that. I'd rather it all go to the person who is personable and has good customer service.

I'll lose almost my whole buy in, but tip my last $5-$10 to a dealer who was personable. If I know they keep 100% of that.

Not sure why anyone should care, but if that's exciting to you, enjoy it.

One of my ex-clients typically won or loss a million on his trips. It wasn't a big deal to him. Him losing a million was like me losing a few hundred. It's all relative. It's specifically why I laugh at posters who get excited about someone making a large sports wager and screaming about it on a forum thinking somebody has inside info (and yet they have no idea what the guy's average wager is).

Horse shit. Losing a few hundred when you make a couple hundred grand would be the equivalent of that guy making a couple billion a year to lose a few million. Not too many people rake in a few billion per year.

I appreciated the compliment, but I'm not making a couple hundred grand. Congrats if you are. But for the average middle class person, it would be in the the ballpark of $250 million, which this guy definitely cleared. Like I said, it's all relative. Nice to hear from you.
