Yeah idk. I get i may be in the minority but I live here, and to me Disney is pure shit. Yes, the other shit like attention to detail, personal service, fancy trimmed plantings ect are the best in a disney park but pure having a good time its just not at the top of my list. Best coasters around are possibly sea world honestly. Their new one called the Mako is pretty crazy.

Universal/ Islands have the hulk and rip ride rocket, both are real solid coasters. The other thing I appreciate about universal is you have city walk between the two parks so what we do is do one park till like lunch then as we are walking to the other park we stop in city walk and eat some normal priced food instead of the theme parks crazy high food prices.

Yep, very cool hotel. We have stayed at all the on site hotels as we have annual passes to universal. Portofino is great. And the free fast passes you get with the stay makes up for a little more expensive of a hotel. We will get there early one day get fast passes for that day, then stay the night and get fast passes for the next day as well. So you get 2 days in the park with fast passes both days for the cost of a 1 nights hotel room. Right now I'm sure those rooms are $300-350 a night. We go in the off season and they will be like $200

Ive been to Disney World a good 5x and never stayed on property. It can be 3-4x more expensive at some of the nicer resorts.

We always get a 2 bedroom condo type deal only a few miles off site for around $100 per night. The one we stay at is like a resort with a pool and all. If you are going to be there 4-5 days, this could save you a good $1k over staying on property. Drive 2 extra miles per day to save $1k? Sign me up.

Plus with a full kitchen, you can get groceries and make some of your meals in the room. Eggs, bacon, and toast for 4 in the room? $15 tops. Eggs, bacon, and toast at a Disney restaurant? $60 plus tip. More $$ saved.

We did the same thing. Two bedroom condo for half the price just 3-4 miles away with a pool too.

We just got back from Disney and I think there might be some bad information here. Everyone that purchases a ticket gets 2 fast pass opportunities. This...as it was described to me....is that Disney does not want the resort to become something where the big bucks have the upper hand. Leveling the playing field if you will. I asked if we could buy an all day long fast pass and we were told this was not an option for anyone.

Those two fast pass opportunities are for two rides only so you have to pick and choose. And there's an app that you use to reserve your spot on the fast pass ride and you can look to see what the wait time is on the app.

You actually get 3 fastpasses and when you use all 3, you can then get fast passes 1 at a time. Plus you can book your fastpasses up to 30/45/60/75/90 days in advance (truth be told, wife takes care of it).

I'm a huge fan of the disney parks and go often but I havent been there in the months of June or July in over 10 years

Right Disney limits the amount you get and you have to pick what rides, times ect. At a place like Universal if you buy a fast pass or stay at one of the 3 onsite hotels that gives them out for free it means you can ride anything you want as many times as you want for the entire day. I can ride the hulk 17 times if I want to. Another reason Universal is better imo.

Frogg Togg makes a shammy like towel that you can buy on amazon. Works great for cooling everyone down. Buy a few of them for the family and dunk them in water bins when you walk by them in the park.

I wouldnt bother packing food into the park. The food you buy there is part of the experience.

Tell them it's your first time. They will give you a button that says "first timer" or something like that....it gets you some love when it comes to seating at restaurants or pictures with characters.

If you can find time to go in Feb/March or Oct/Nov you'll see a NICE difference in the weather (i know, hard with kids to travel certain times of year).

We were planning on going up next month for a few days before school starts and i told my wife i didnt feel like dealing with the heat haha
