Stock futures fell Sunday evening at the end a holiday weekend in the U.S., declining after last week’s rally sent the S&P 500 to its best weekly gain since 1974. Meanwhile, crude oil prices rose and then turned negative, after OPEC and its allies agreed to a production cut of nearly 10 million barrels per day to help ease a mounting supply glut.

You must be trading large amounts of these seeing as the swings are small. Well done.

My father worked for ups and I started buying stock in 1984 and a their insurance company, Bermuda-based Overseas Partners Ltd, then I got on etrade in 1993 and was buying and selling sprint, and got a job in telecom and switched to Verizon at 26$, buy sell buy sell, over the last 25 years I know in transaction I have bought over 250 million dollars, and think i have only missed a few dividends where i sold it before the ex date took the cash. I have no interest in creating liquidity in the marketplace, I take my cash out as fast as I can, when the market was at peak, i was putting in my sell orders, .03-05 above the purchase price.

Smart ~ Kind of surprised to see you in McDonald's......not exactly a cutting edge company. Probably on the opposite end of the spectrum....plus I just think the restaurant industry is a tough business and not high margins. I looked up their stock prices over a long period of time and it was nothing spectacular even though it is a big name company.

Usually see you talking about stuff more like: Verizon or Microsoft. Big companies that are doing things that will have impact down the road. Not Big Mac & Fries...hahaha. Which I do love on occasion.

If you want to look at something different....Minnesota based company that I did great on look at Toro (TTC). I rode it up from about $8 to $60 in about 7 years )2010 to 2017). I started thinking the market was getting high and they had a nice run so I got out. It didnt do much and slowly worked its way up and now is just a little above where I sold it.

Maybe it doesnt work with the way you trade.

Northern Star my friend,

Technology is about to change fast food.

Last year, McDonald's spent $300 million to acquire Dynamic Yield, a technology company it planned to use to revolutionize the drive-through: with menus that could quickly adjust based on trends and inventory, purchase history, and even the weather. In 2019, the fast-food giant spent $5 billion repurchasing 25 million shares, according to its annual regulatory filing. In December, the company's board authorized the repurchase of $15 billion in outstanding stock with no expiration date. I feel McDonald's is becoming a tech company, McDonald’s is testing kitchen robots and AI-Powered drive-thrus. Pretty soon you might be going through a McDonald's drive-thru and find yourself talking to a robot.

The massive fast-food chain just acquired a tech company called Apprente, which is focused on using artificial intelligence to automate the drive-thru. Wendy's has implemented a slew of self-cleaning machines, according to the Journal. In order to remove the need to clean bacon grease off of stoves, some locations have installed self-cleaning ovens. Complicated dishwashers have been replaced with new machines that cost $6,500, according to the Journal. It saves nearly ten hours of labor per week to ensure bowls, spatulas, and other food prep utensils are clean.

Business owners insist that robots will take over work that is dirty, dangerous, or just dull, enabling humans to focus on other tasks. The international chain CaliBurger, for example, will soon install Flippy, a robot that can flip 150 burgers an hour.

Wednesday buy more McDonald's stock.

I will look at Toro, I know first hand they make great equipment, i have driven my share of Groundsmaster and Reelmaster and Sand Pro.

Bruins4Life , I'm sorry I don't have a price point like i do with Verizon. I bought 1500 shares today sold 1000 for 1300$ profit , I'm sitting on 500 shares at a lose from Wednesday, I'm going to day trade and ride this one down to the bottom, their stores are open and their drive thrus are open, people are getting their stimulus checks and their furlow money and their unemployment, when the economy opens up McDonald's will not have lost a beat. This is a 220 price target stock to me, who can innovate, their product is marketable to the rich and the poor and they are nimble, they have the best real estate, and their debt is from stock but backs. They are well run company with top noych managment , they will survive with out without stimulus money.

Smart....that seems more like you in terms of reasons for investing in McDonalds....sure you will do just fine.

This story sounds like some type of scam story that is followed up with someone trying to sell you something. I was at Chic Filet one night and there was some sort of small group sitting next to me. I came to the conclusion that they were some sort of investment type group in the chain. They were quoting all kinds of stats that I proceeded to try to take in as I enjoyed my chicken sandwich. The basics of it was their business model. I am paraphrasing but you will get the idea and this is off of memory. Chick Filet fronts the money for the restaurant. The franchise owner is expected to work allot. In turns the average owner will make about $250,000 a year. They of course need to do what ever the corporate office deems. No Sundays. I don't recall how much corporate makes on the franchise. The item that struck me the most was revenue. The disparity between them and the McDonalds across the street. It was something like $5 million to $3 million and they weren't open on Sundays. Chick Filet is almost like an upscale fast food...you pay a little more but it seems worth it. They also have the best service in the fast food industry. Yes sir, no sir politeness.

Buy stuff you believe in. Do bad I can't buy their stock. McDonalds has the best fries and of course articles have been written about their coke products.

Northern Star once again I am in agreement with you , I'm about a 25 minute ride from College Park, Georgia,. I cant tell you how many time i make business calls and someone is in the drive thru for Chick-fil-A. My favorate Chick-fil-A is one that is shaped like chicken head ...and a mouth that moves, i think its close to Woodstock GA, Chick-fil-A is legendary ... i get a gallon of sweet and unsweetened and mix them with breakfast. They are clean , the service is top notch , they are a top notch organization.

Your chances are virtually zero to ever get one. Now again numbers are hard to come by but from what we have heard Chick-fil-A receives about 20,000-50,000 applications per year, and awards only 60-100 locations. So the chances of you ever actually getting one, (even if you are a christian family man who agrees to abide by their corporate prayer policy) are slim to none. If you don't have solid references, verifiable family history, roots in the community and strong moral values - slim to none.

Before Truett Cathy, the chicken chain's founder and longtime CEO, died in 2014, he reportedly set up a contract with his children that said they may sell the privately owned chain in the future — but it could never go public.

Why was Cathy so anxious to keep the company private? One reason may be the founder's dedication to maintaining the company’s religious roots. While Chick-fil-A says it is open to employees and franchisees of all faiths, the company's mission statement reads: "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A." That's a message that may need some adjustments if the company is publicly owned.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Friday put on hold a suit by Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) challenging the Pentagon’s decision to award a $10 billion contract to Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O).

Judge Patricia E. Campbell-Smith granted the Pentagon’s request to halt further action on the lawsuit to allow the military to reconsider aspects of the decision being challenged by Amazon, originally considered to be the favorite to win the award. She ordered the case to remain on hold until August 17, but said it could be extended or shortened depending on the length of the review.

Known as Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI, the cloud computing contract is intended to give the militarybetter access to data and technology from remote locations.

The Amazon lawsuit, filed in November, said the Defense Department’s decision was full of “egregious errors,” which were a result of “improper pressure from President Donald Trump, who launched repeated public and behind-the-scenes attacks” to steer the contract away from Amazon “to harm his perceived political enemy”, Amazon head Jeff Bezos.

Trump has publicly derided Bezos and accused the Washington Post newspaper, owned by Bezos, of unfair coverage.

Campbell-Smith released an opinion on March 7 that said Amazon was likely to succeed on a key argument of its challenge, namely “the merits of its argument that the DOD improperly evaluated” Microsoft’s data storage in one price scenario. She said Amazon is likely to show that Microsoft’s scenario was not “technically feasible” as the Pentagon assessed.

The opinion did not mention Trump or address Amazon’s claims of improper influence.

The Pentagon had said it would reconsider its evaluation of the technical aspects of the scenario cited by the judge if she sent the contract back to the military for further review. The Pentagon added that would give it the “opportunity to reconsider the award decision at issue in light of (Amazon’s) allegations.”

Amazon did not immediately comment on Friday.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper has rejected that there was bias and said the Pentagon made its choice fairly and freely without external influence.

The Pentagon’s inspector general on Wednesday said it could not determine whether the White House influenced the award after senior Defense Department officials asserted a “presidentialcommunications privilege.”
